check the match engine....

4 GA in 47 sec.
3 GA in 58 sec.
4 GA in 1m12sec.
3 GA in 52 sec.

happens around 20 times per season....against a solid d-orientated team....

plain ridiculous

In the same second? Are you sure you're not looking at the penalty times? I've just looked through a few hundred game summaries and while I found a few goals scored at close intervals, there was nothing like that - and it shouldn't be possible in the match engine to score that close together, the number of events required to go from faceoff to shot on goal, and the time alloted for each, wouldn't allow it.

Yeah, in the same second - but admittedly, that extreme happened only once

Otherwise as i stated in the OP, 3g in 25sec etc... happens very often and this seems unrealistic as well - it doesn´t really take away the fun of the game for me but it might be something you´d want to take a closer look at

A goal two seconds after a faceoff shouldn't be happening, so I'll see what can be done about that, but 3 goals in a minute isn't wildly unusual in real life, either. Dallas had 3 in 53 seconds against Anaheim on Tuesday, and there were 3 in 48 seconds in the Winnipeg-Chicago game the week before. I actually had less trouble finding real-life examples of goals in quick succession than I did looking through FHM game summaries.

The 3 in a single second, did you actually see that happen while watching the game or just find it in the summary? I'm wondering if there might be something going wrong in the way the goal times are being recorded in the summary, because it's basically impossible for the match engine to have events happen without moving the clock.

Match engine

One big hint about how the match engine is working is the fact that all posted times are even numbers, including TOI and time of events such as shots and goals. It's as if a standard value of 2 seconds is assigned to each event. If that is the case, then goals scored just 2 seconds apart will happen with some frequency, even though it would be impossible in actuality.

Funny, you´re absolutely right....checked every match report for some time and things only happen at even numbers (goals, PIM, etc.....)

But in all seriousness, you're totally right that weird stuff like this happens in real life so we shouldn't be upset if it happens in our sims. My guess is, though, is that it seems to be happening too often in our sims.

I'm going to be keeping a closer eye on my box scores and I'll see if it really is happening too often. I hope you guys will share your weird happenings as well.

It's also worth keeping an eye on the accuracy of the number of power play opportunities in a game. The match engine seems to be including cases that it should not.
