Some of my frustrations.

This is what frustrates me. The quote pasted below on 11-11-13 states that we can expect an update sometime next week. OK. As I interpret the statement, that would be sometime between the 17th and 23rd. Even with the 11-14-13 update, that statement about being released in a week is upheld.

Did I miss a posting? Are patches posted somewhere else on this site? I haven't seen the patch.

I simply don't like being told one thing and then having that expectation squashed - sure other users or whomever could tell me, "too bad." But it would be too bad when I don't buy the next release. Trust should not be taken lightly.

This sends out a lot of bad perceptions about the company making the game.

It appears to me that in the future I shouldn't trust anything I read on here from the company.

I can only expect a lot of bad communication.

Any communication isn't thought out and planned - so should I really take your company and its efforts seriously?.

I can't take the company seriously about anything they say.

Whether or not this was intended, I feel lied to.

[This thought has nothing to do with the yet-unreleased-patch]The company does not care about the user base if people have so many problems with the game and yet the first major patch comes out and we see new features, even if those features are very minimal. What this tells me is that even a small amount of time was used to add a new feature, rather than being 100% sure that the most stable game (or patch) possible is released. This begs the question, who are you making the game for?

I fear that a lot of people, me included, are losing faith in anything this company is attempting to accomplish.

I want to use this thread in the future to keep you up to date on the development of FHM. Right now we work on two different things:

1. The next maintenance patch that will go into internal testing Wednesday and be released sometimes next week. It will contain a fix for the Mavericks problem, an updated database (you can now choose between opening day roster and actual roster when starting a new game) and a lot of smaller bug fixes.

2. Beside the maintenance patch we work on another thing that we will present more details on once we are closer to finishing it (learning our lesson here ).

Update: 2013/11/14

As I wrote earlier the next maintenance patch was released to the beta team yesterday so we are on track for a release next week.

A late addition was a file called "presets.txt" to the quickstarts that can be used to add existing injuries to the modern game. The file includes all NHL injuries we were aware off.

Later, we will expand the file to include stuff like Captain and Jersey#.

The patch got postponed for 1 !! week ... if the game is a bit more polished than before i can´t see any problem here.

If i´m right this seems to be a smaller company working on tight budget - If i regularly get a NHL managment sim that´s stable for years i´m very well prepared to accept some minor delays especially as this game´s still very young

Problem is that no one from the dev team has said anything about it since 11/14. We've only seen a rumor posted that it's going to be delayed a week, no one from the dev team has posted that in this forum as far as I've been able to see. They just don't seem to get that all they have to do is communicate. A literally 1 minute post sometime during the week saying "sorry guys, some issues with the next update, we are going to delay it a week and see where we are"

That's all we need. I don't understand why that's so difficult for them to accomplish. One minute out of their time...

That's the problem here - we had 6 months of beta testing, then the game was released and basically still was a beta.

We hat two patches (or three ?), you get that in OOTP in the first two weeks to correct minor bugs.

All we paying customers request is more communication from the developers.

Sure they're working hard, I have no doubt about it - but we're now 3 months beyond release, the game still is full of bugs and all it takes is 5 minutes to update us with something like "the next patch will be released this week, next week, next month, ..." whatever.

I defended this game for a long time, but I'm extremely disappointed about the way we are treated as far as patches and informations are concerned.

I definitely won't be around for the next version, I won't ask for a refund - but I want to know when most of these major bugs are corrected.

I hope they would start focusing more on FHM but I get the feeling they are planning OOTP '15

One game is like an 8.5 and the other is like a 3. The only thing that bothers me is their World Series special for OOTP '14 which was supposed to end when the World Series was over but its still going on. I love the game and all but you can only cry wolf so many times before people call the bluff.

I really hope they are able to start getting FHM up to par with OOTP '14 because it honestly makes me sad that OOTP '14 is so good and the potential for FHM is there but not being utilized.

I used to be like you, eagerly waiting for a new patch to be released and the fact that they were never on time made me quite angry. I think the best thing here is not to expect anything so you won't get dissapointed. I hardly even come to this website anymore, I lost the passion for this game a long time ago, maybe my expectations were too high.

I'm still not sure whetever I'll buy the next release. It all depends on how good the first version will be before it's time to announce the next one. At this time I'm probably leaning towards a no.

The developers for FHM have nothing to do with OOTP15 that are two different people. Trust me they work on this thing day and night.

OOTP 14 took many releases to finally reach the pinnacle it is at now. Check the difference between it's initial release in 2001ish! Over time people will love FHM. No one else is out there developing this type of product so be patient.

This is small company that listens but if they were responding to every thread on the board they wouldn't have time to code.

this OOTP14 - ootp1 reference is getting old... there are massive holes in the FHM that i'm sure even the freeware of ehm got right. As of right now this *game* is just an empty shell....

Franchise Hockey Manager -> THE MOST COMPLETE HOCKEY GAME EVER ..I mean SERIOUSLY?? facebook hockey apps are more attractive than this.. or maybe they missed the *garbage* there.

Oh, and to create a Developer Update Thread (last update: 11/14/2013) thread, that has 0 developer replies and is open to everyone to add nothing new to the topic was just brilliant.

I think so, too ... but it would be nice if they would take 5 minutes - no, not a day, but a week - to let us know where we stand.

In a newly released game full of bugs we had a grand total of two patches in almost 3 months and nobody knows when or if a new patch will be released.

Come on, you can't compare the start of FHM to the start of OOTP ... the developers - rightfully - used a lot of the experience and layouts from OOTP.

As I said, I defended this for a long time, but right now I'm at the point - like several others - where I'm giving up on this ... not only this version but the next few as well.

I know that in several of my OOTP online leagues FHM online leagues were put together ... all of them have vanished as the promised online play "with the second patch in early October" (quote developers) is nowhere to be seen ... and that will cause a severe loss in sale for version 2

Online play is what sells the game ...

As a previous poster pointed out and something I failed to acknowledge was the hard work of the developers. My fault. I should say I am greatly impressed by anyone who can produce games of any sort. I have tried coding and it takes a lot of patience and skill. So, yes, thank you for giving us a hockey game to play. Please do provide reliable communication.

I should point out that I was impressed with the announcement made in March (I think it was March, but not sure). You gave us a hard date by which the game would be released, you stuck to it, and made it happen. Of course, one might want to bring up the quality of the game at the time regarding bugs and such. However, that is not the point. You communicated to us. Stuck with the set date. It appeared planned and purposeful. That was good. More of that in the future, please.

Don't promise what you can't deliver

Unless the developers were absolutely positive a patch would be ready in a week, they should have not mentioned that time frame.

Being a small company or the only hockey sim are not legitimate reasons for putting out a product that doesn't work and leaving people hanging.

Give updates when deadlines cannot be made or simply don't be so definitive with those deadlines. It doesn't help to miss deadlines and not explain the delay.

I presume that time must be hell for them now. And I think that they have been told to not comment on the forum until release. But the weird thing is that they put pressure on themselves by putting a date on the patch release instead of just giving us info about the work in progress.

They have done this the whole time though.

Take projections with a grain of salt. I will still be buying future versions though as I prefer even a bare sim to EA hockey any day.
