Minor games development
Just curious.
Does it make a difference from the standpoint of development how many games a minor league team plays per year? Does a 144, 130, 80, or even 40 game season effect overall development of the players (beyond fielding experience)? I ask as I am thinking of having low number of games w my minor league teams- to speed up sim times, but wondering the effect. If a sort of reserve roster type dev kicks in when a season is over. Say my A ball team played a 20 game season. Would players still be developing during the year, even if no games are played? |

Players need playing time to develop. If you have minors on, there is no "reserve roster" that kicks in when the season ends.
How much playing time is subjective, however I will add this: OOTP is designed to develop players (up or down) on a normal path whether you have full minors, some minors, or no minors and just use a reserve roster. I quite often play with just rookie and AA levels. My players all still develop normally. The disadvantage to reserve rosters is, you won't get to see any stats. The players still develop as if they were playing though. It just happens in the background. |
