Running an Online League

Hello all!

I am about to take on the endeavor of running an online league between a few guys I know. I have played sim games for a while, but this will be my first crack at playing OOTP in depth as well as running an online league. I'm looking for as many pointers/tips/hints/anything that will aid me in running a league and keeping it afloat. It can the most basic steps to starting and running a league, anything will help.

Thank you in advance!

While it s based on v12 and shows Montoya's servers, it is still a good guide to understanding how to set up the on-line portion.

So obviously having a website is key, since that is where all the files that are shared (imports/exports, etc are stored.)

The Commissioner panel will automate most of your work. Not the fastest method but certainly workable.

The league setup is the same as a normal league. That means you and your friends can setup whatever type you like. So you can practice your setup there, save it as a template and then create the on-line league.

Try and get a routine for how you sim. That will make mistakes less likely.
For example,

1) Pull imports from teams.
2) check for valid rosters (invalid rosters stop the sim so check before you start)
3) check status of players on DFA (this list shows if any player coming off the DFA list). If someone is coming off this sim it will stop the sim when it occurs, may as well do it early.
4) Process any trades.
5) run the sim.
6) export the results.

The order may vary by commish, but have an order.

Looking at these tutorials, I think it is a bit more than what we are looking for with our league. What I really need to know is how to upload a file for GMs to download as well as how to go about collected the team files that the GMs upload themselves and import it into the game.

I should clarify by saying we do not plan on uploading the HTML files on our "site"; we are just using a message board. With that said, what would be the best way for my small group of friends to conduct our league efficiently and effectively?

So I think what we have decided on is trying to run our league by uploading our league file to Dropbox to allow all GMs to download it. What I need to know is the following:

1) Which files/folders do I NEED from my "xxxx.lg" folder to compress into a .rar and uploaded to Dropbox?

2) Will using Dropbox work?

3) How would my fellow GMs go about sending in their team files?

Sorry for all of the questions, we are just new to this game when it comes to online leagues and are really excited to get this going.

Can anybody answer this question? I actually have the same question. I'm not looking to start a big league where I need to host a website but instead I'm just looking to play with 1-3 friends....
