Making everybody a lefty

So I read about a fictional lefties-only league that Craig Robinson created (he also does really cool baseball charts!), where the bases were switched around, so lefties could play short, second base, etc. I wondered if this could be duplicated in OOTP. I would basically fill teams with fictional players for the 6 teams and edit everyone to be bat left, throw left.

My question is, would this work? Like, would splits change, and would it affect plays in-game?

I would set up the teams based on Robinson's graphic and create another league where everybody is a righty. Each league would have its own championship, but I would want to create a total championship for both leagues (Lefty champ vs. Righty champ). Which leads to another question. Is that possible? Would the winners be recorded somewhere like the league champions?

I'm running OOTP8 if that makes any difference (my computer has a PPC processor (not Intel) so I can't run anything higher).

I saw this a few days ago. I check that site often.

I don't think you could duplicate it in OOTP. But maybe start by running a test with the IF made up of lefties. It'd probably be a bit of a disaster.

It is a great small fictional league to rip off, though. He even created a schedule.

While of course you can not flip the bases around and the directions they run, making a 2B, 3B , SS & C a double leftie does not affect the way they field. At least from my experiment on 12 I did not see any adverse affects when making a clone of Craig Biggio, Luis Aparicio, Brooks Robinson & Ivan Rodriguez L/L. In my current league I have 2 L/L C's neither are starters though. Neither are good defensively but both have great power and are on teams with a better 1B and no DH.

Looks like I'm doing it then!

As for my 2nd question, any way to have a championship between both leagues (not sub-leagues) that would just be exhibition games?

Couldn't you use the association feature to have separate leagues with a championship between them?

No associations in OOTP8....but you could always just play exhibition games on your own, but there will be no history of it in game.....however, keeping track of such stuff yourself is not onerous.....used to have to keep track of EVERYTHING on my own back in the day.....

But would the box scores at least be saved? I could create a folder of all of the total champions with the series box scores and an Excel sheet.

The game won't save the box score, but you should be able to manually copy it somewhere....haven't played 8 in quite a while, so I can't give you specific instructions, but you should be able to open it in a browser and save it from there....
