Current League having one team with historic players?

I'd like to run a current 2013 league although I'd like to put historical players on one team. Is this possible?

Yes.
Release some players off of that team or trade them away, you could even keep them
Make a notepad file of all the historical players you want to import. Attached is an example from my league. Go to FA screen (might have to be in Commish Mode, I stay in Commish) Click Import historical, set up the import options slect the .txt notepad file and good to go. Find them and sign them manually to minor league deals or ML deals (check service years for all players, I have yet to see an imported player come in with the correct amount usally it is at 55 service years)

One more question. Where is the file with all the players?

I found a tar file in the data base but the naming conventions seem different. It's like this one: Wagner,9,39 which is different from yours: hornsro01,1916

Of course I'm looking for Honus Wagner and his best year certainly wasn't 1939 lol. So how do I know when I locate the Wagner I'm seeking that he's the one that I want being I'm sure there is more than one Wagner? Also, when I do find them and figure this out do I have to save as a .tar?

Update: I think I found it. You pull them from the database right? I just had to find the correct file. I'm new cut me some slack lol.

Ok, not letting me import. In commish mode, laid out in .txt same as yours. Doesn't give me a reason for failed import????

use baseball reference.com Double click the player ID to highlight it then copy and paste it into the .txt file. You can look for players in the master.cvs but BB ref is easier.
When you click import are you selecting the historical database.odb or the master,cvs located in your OOTP 14- Stats folder? i dont see any errors in your .txt

Ok that worked much thanks. The only problem now is that the players are getting imported at the end of their playing time. Any way to fix that?

what do you mean? you import them from the year you want them to start. you had 1960 for Roberto Clemente so are you saying the game has him coming in at 1970?

your welcome. I import alot so i am pretty good at this aspect of the game.

The two pitchers I imported are getting blown out. Usually with scores like 12 to 14 runs against them. Pretty weird.

who are they?
How many games have they pitched in?
what options did you use to import them? ie remaining, peak, career, or remaining peak?
what era are you using for strategy?
Most pitchers prior to 1990 do not far well in 2013. Cy Young gets shelled in some leagues.

All good questions. I'll look into all you listed. I wasn't aware you could pick strategies for different eras. To this point they have pitched in about 5 games each. I have learned plenty from you at prior to and as of your last post which changes everything. I'm going to start a fresh season and see how things work out. I hope others that may have been looking to do the same thing learned from what you posted here as well. I'll post back after I get things rolling and as always thank you

In my EBL league, which is a historical fictional replay, the season year is 2015 but the finances & strategy are of 1985. Keeps the HR down and makes for some very good pitching. I clone a lot of my imported players. Most of my clones all played prior to 1985 with a few exceptions. Pitchers that while their stamina is 10 (1-10 scale), their stuff might only be a 5. velocity around 88-92. in a modern era i have seen those same type of pitchers struggle.

Suggestion: try making all time favorite team league and use random debut for the rest of the players. I have this for my Top 25 league starts in 2000. For that league only 2 of my players played before 1980. Rogers Hornsby & Bart Johnson. Most had their best seasons in the 80's.

You could also unretire the person but remember to change his status to Playing or the Game will exit before the Draft happens because I have that problem and I think it is because one of my Leagues has people on MLB Roster who are Injured and the Computer won't put them on DL and when I pick to Sim Date at start I had to Pick year.

Ok, I didn't have a chance today to get into it but I will soon. I put a new roster together though so I am going to just start another game. It does look like you can just delete a player when your in Commish mode so that may work as well although I'm not sure what effect that will have.
