Help Rudel find an NFL team to follow

I am not a super big football fan. I can discuss it semi intelligently and I follow it because I am a huge fan of sports in general.
I follow college football to a small degree. My UVA squad is woeful at both football and basketball.
I do enjoy the GM aspects of football. Especially the financial aspects, trying to build a 75 man squad with limited resources. Spending on key players while at the same time trying to have depth when the inevitable injuries come.

I need an NFL team to follow on a week to week basis.
This thread is to help me find one. State the case for your team or a team you think I should follow.

To help, I will list teams that for various reasons are completely out.

Cowboys
Bears
Packers
Vikings
Eagles
Giants
Jets
Steelers
Redskins
Ravens
Bengals
Cardinals
Rams
Browns

That leaves a good portion of the league
So state your teams case!

Lions. Detroit needs fans. And you have the Bears, Vikings and Packers on there. So, if you hate them, go with the Lions.

Plus, it's the time to jump on their bandwagon.

Seeing the Packers are out (always thought the Germans were crazy ) I'd say the Jaguars, think you spend sometime in London and they play in London also nobody could ever claim your a glory hound.

I have it narrowed down to Panthers, Falcons, Jaguars and Raiders.

I'd narrow it down to Panthers and Jaguars. Falcons play indoors on plastic, football should not be played indoors or on plastic in fact all teams should be made to make their fields either muddy or frozen before a game I'd count the Raiders out as they've moved and could easily move in the future, hate teams moving although saying that Jaguars could easily move.

Well by far the best run organization of those four are the Falcons. The Jaguars are an absolute trainwreck. The Raiders aren't far behind them but are showing signs of turning it around. Panthers seems like they've been close to putting it all together for about 3-4 years but never do.

You are in a fortunate position of being able to choose your team later in life. Usually you start following a team as a kid and that team sticks. Now that you have this opportunity I suggest you choose a team committed to winning. They don't have to be good now, just a team that you know is committed to getting back up after they have fallen. Otherwise you could go through decades of misery.

Out of these teams, although I suggested you go with the Jaguars, I would say go with the Panthers. Panthers have a very good young QB in Cam Newton and a good head coach in Ron Rivera (i'm biased). Falcons have been good but not great for awhile. Raiders are in disarray with the passing of Al Davis and Jaguars are just plain bad and have been for several years with no end in sight.

I'd say just keep watching until you find yourself rooting for someone. That's how I became a Broncos fan over here in CT in the late 80's/early 90's. Fandom, to me, is like a relationship - or even marriage. You can't really force yourself to like X, you just feel it eventually about a team. Good times, bad times. Sure, from time to time it's enticing to have a little crush on another team.. but it just doesn't feel right.

There are certain reasons to divorce yourself from a team, though. If the Broncos ever moved (or changed their name) I'd quickly join most of my family of Patriots fans, or perhaps my dad's Vikings.

Why did SF give up on Alex Smith? Did they get a good return for him?

They got rid of him because they have Kapernick. They got 2 picks in return one from this year one for next. Alex smith nor Reid will change KC's losing ways.

Always had a soft spot for the Chiefs, back when few games were on air over here the Chiefs used to be on a few times and the Packers hardly on so they became my second team. Now their hardly on and the Packers are on more, anyway reason I followed them besides their coverage was Christian Okoye and Derrick Thomas.
