Drastic reduction in pwr mid season?

I have played multiple seasons of the iOOTP 2013 version of the game. I have Chris Davis on my team as a lefty DH/1B and his Power number was 78 against righties. All of the sudden, 130 games into the season, his power against righties dropped to 63. He is not injured (he's fragile, but 100% rested and status is OK) and his morale is great (no individual rating below normal). The oddest thing is that his Power Potential still shows 76! He's a 33 year old guy (I'm in the 2019 season) on the downside of his career.

What happened? How can I get him back to his "potential"?

He's getting old. It happens. Players' numbers go up and down like the Astros' year-to-year record. Once a guy gets past his prime (pretty much 33+), it's unrealistic to assume his stats will stay the same.

You probably can't. He's simply in his decline phase now. The good news is that a 63 power is still darn good, so no need to panic or to dump him. He could still be good for years. Or maybe not, you can never really tell. Just like irl, which is part of what makes the game so great.
