Random Question...

In my game 28 year out outfielder Quintin Berry just had a career ending injury... This made me think, how do you offer retired players contracts to join your coaching staff? Is it any player or just specific ones? I have a player on my team that says in his personality that he's the type of player whom seems to be certain to have a managerial career after baseball.

So was just curious on what factors play a part into who you can offer jobs to after their ball career is over.

First, you have to be in commissioner mode to turn a player into a coach.

Go to Berry's page and click on action. You will see turn into a coach as an option and select it.

Then, you have to fire someone on your coaching staff. It should be either your major league staff or one of your minor league coaches. You can't offer Berry a job unless you have a vacancy.

Then, go to the league menu and, under transactions, you will see available personnel. Go there and find Berry. Or, you can just use the global search and enter Berry's name and find him that way. Either way you do it, right click on Berry's name and offer him a contract.

Thanks for the detailed response! Much appreciated! One question, so there is no 'legit' way to do this without being in commissioner mode?

If you don't want to be in a commissioner mode, you can create a brand new manager, make him a commissioner, then turn Berry into a coach while you are acting as that new manager. After that, you can delete that new manager.

The only step that requires commissioner mode is turning Berry into a coach. The firing of an existing coach on your staff and you offering Berry a contract can be done without being a commissioner.

Or just wait and see if he ever becomes a coach. I stay in Commish mode. it has no affect on you overall game.

Thanks guys!

I don't want to make Berry a coach but his retirement due to injury got me thinking so I was curious! I guess I'll stay in commissioner mode since it has no effects on the overall game!

Today makes it a week since I bought this... So far I'm hooked, it's like a drug!
