Handling, Interface

After fiddling around some more, I came to the conclusion that I had to start this thread dedicated to the handling/interface of the game. It's about different aspects that should be changed/tuned in my opinion and sometimes I even included suggestions for improvement(!).

Setting lines is a pain
1) You only see part of the players you can move into the lineup spots.
2) The drag & drop is unrensponsive for me. Instead of dragging the guy I accidentaly get sent into a random player profile -- all the time. It's a constant back and forth.
3) If you choose a filter and then want to take a look at a player profile (or the game forces you to look at one), the game does not remember your filter and you have to choose it again.
4) Summary: It takes too many clicks (and time) to set your lines.

Suggestion(s)
a) Do not seperate that screen in upper and lower halfs, but left and right halfs. On the left you have your roster and on the right the different line combos/special teams. I know that a resolution of 1024x768 is the standard, but you would still be able to at least fit a set of ratings on the left side along the player's names.
b) fix the drag & drop!
c) Or even better: Let's give us the option to mark/unmark players on the left side. If a player is marked active, you can click the various spots in your lines you want this player to take. When you're done you unmark him. Voila.

Stat screens
I'm a stats freak and I would bet that 95,4% of text simulation users are stats freaks, too. So why does it take three clicks to get to the "expanded" stats page of your league and three clicks to the stats of your team's players?
Yes, I know, you only have to click twice to access the "Stats Leaders" page which shows the "Skater Leaders" by default. But honestly, the top 5 is not what I want to see. I want to see the whole picture. And of those stats that you can see on the "Skater Leaders" page, only five are not shown if you make that third click. Of those very five at least the "Shots" column - in my opinion - should be added to the "Skater Stats 1" portion, simply because its a hockey standard. That leaves only four stats we miss out initially by getting to whole thing right away. So why all the fuss???

Suggestion:
Expand that drop down menu at the top of the screen. If you click onto the league tab there should be a "Stats section" (like Basics, Transactions, Advanced etc. at the moment) which lets you choose to take a look at that "Skater Leaders" screen and the "Goalie Leaders", but also gives you the option to dive directly into the whole thing, maybe even add "Skater Stats 1/2/3" as a quick way to take a look at blocked shots etc.

Sorting
1) I don't think I have found a screen which is able to remember what column I sorted when I click on a player and then want to get back to that screen.
2) There are several colums which are still not sortable (e.g. giveaways, takeaways, PP assists, SH assists etc.)
3) The "Team Stats" always sorts by lowest first. But having the lowest shot total or the fewest goals scored in the league is actually bad, not good. Some tuning is needed here.
4) Some of the colums in the player stats screens are either unresponsive or it's tough to tell where exactly you have to click to sort. It simply doesn't work sometimes and I have to click two or three times.

- There is no filter for "Rookies" anywhere (I can't believe it).

- Dressing/scratching players takes two clicks. I dare say it, but I already got used to it. Still, I think that's one click too many.

- Moving players to active roster/reserves/etc: Always having to click "okay" is getting old fast. Is it possible to create a keyboard shortcut at least? Maybe "Enter" for okay and "Escape" for no?

- Team schedule screen: If you click on game six of the Stanley Cup Final to take a look at the boxscore and then go back, you will always be at the top again. So you have to scroll all the way back down, if you then want to look at game seven. The screen has to remember where you were before. (same with the "League History" screen by the way, and probably many others, too)

- "Transaction Report" screen: Please add a filter (i.e. trades, UFA signings etc.). It's annoying having to look at dozens of guys who were put on or off injured reserve list to find your important transactions.
Also: Why is there no transaction screen for the whole league?

- I'm used to being led during game day by EHM and FM. Every day you start at your "office". From there you can checks mails or whatever. If you have important news, you get directed to your mail box right away. Then, hitting "continue" brings you to today's games. Continueing again brings you to your roster. Continueing again starts the game. It's nice and easy, especially because you can simply hit the space bar to advance...
In FHM you can click "Finish Today" and advance. Then around you tons of things happen in the game world, but the game does not lead you to them. Instead of being able to check the news you stay at the very same screen when you clicked "Finish Today". That's kinda nice if you want to proceed fast and nothing actually happens. What I don't like is the fact that the game doesn't even lead you to a relevant screen when you get a message. I.e. when the game tells you that a player is ready to return from injury, you still have to click on "Injury List" to reactivate the guy. The game should send you to that screen in that case. It's tedious and creates more unnecessary clicks.

Thanks for reading. I'm sure I can find more...
Now, that you are through to the end, I can tell you that I not only think that these things need some tuning, but that they all outright annoy me. They are part of the reason, I can't really enjoy the game. But hey, I didn't want to start the thread with harsh words.

Also, it is a pain not being able to send guys to the minors from this screen. Why is it that I have to go to the main roster screen? Right clicking on a guy in this screen should give you the same options as any other screen (that is the great thing about OOTP, a right click on a guy's name will ALWAYS produce the same options regardless of what screen you are on).

Thanks for making this post because I've been meaning to say something about the interface. The game itself is enjoyable but interface problems (not just in this game but in general too) bother me/confuse me. If interface issues are fixed, the other bugs will not seem as bad IMO.

A lot of great suggestions here... actually most of them would be imho of very high priority should I decide for the game

First thing that comes to mind is the game displayed in the "Yesterday" space at the top should be clickable, and link to the boxscore.

Speaking of which, I'd suggest replacing "Yesterday" and "Today" spaces with "Last game" and "Next game", both including the date. The former is useful in a baseball sim because there's basically a game every day, but in a hockey sim it just turns into wasted space 2/3 of the time.

Should definitely be a couple of shortcuts to reach the most important parts of the game (mostly roster, line-up, schedule, news, finish day, I think) so that I don't have to click twice (or more) to reach any of those.
