Timing of coaches contracts ending

I'm not sure exactly how this works in real life, but I'm consistently frustrated by minor league coaches becoming "free agents" before my Major League season ends. The reason is that I may have a Major League coach or manager whose contract is expiring and I don't plan to re-hire him. There are times when I would like to offer that job to a minor league coach whose contract is also be expiring, but because they are released from their duties within days of their season ending, they almost always sign with other minor league teams before I even have a chance to offer them the big league job.

So, what I'm suggesting is that all minor league coaches remain under contract until the Major League season ends completely, including all playoffs.

I realize that I could offer the minor league coach an extension of that contract, then just assign him to the big leagues later on, but if he happens to refuse that extension and gets mad, I'm still going to lose him.

Great idea. To expand on it, it would also be nice if we received a notification about coaches whose contracts were about to expire, just as a heads-up.

Agree 100 percent.

Coaches often seem like more work than they're worth in the game, but I like having them for the realism factor, even if I pay very little attention to them. If a few tweaks were made, I think it would make coaches a better aspect of the game.

Speaking of realism in the coaches department, one of those tweaks could be realistic minor league coaching contracts. Managers in the minors with 3 year $500,000+ contracts is just ridiculous.

We could put together a long list of all the things, this included, that could/should be done with coaches.
