Is There A Way Not To Have Season Awards?
Trying to do a mostly accurate MLB and dont want to give out any awards until 1911 when the Chalmers Awards come in. I can't figure out how to accomplish this.

I'm in a let's see how I can figure out how to get around the system kind of mood today. So, I took out of my test leagues and viewed this as a good challenge.
I was thinking that, if you went into manual award voting at the end of the season and then made no selections, then nobody would win. No. OOTP didn't allow that. I got a message saying that not every position was properly filled. Then, OOTP automatically made its selections. So, then I thought that, if I renamed all of the awards to blanks, then nobody would win them. Nope. Selections were still made, but no name of the award was given. For example, the news log says "RF Jack Clark of the Philadelphia Phillies honored: Wins the 1979 ML NL." So, then I thought that I could create a fictional player. Give him the name of "Nobody", manual select "Nobody" as the winner of the awards. I created a fictional player, edited his name to Nobody and also edited all of his ratings down to 1, to make sure nobody signed him. We wouldn't want anyone to actually sign the guy, we'd just want to use his name so that the awards list would just show "Nobody." But, that didn't work either. Apparently, the list of players to choose from is the players who actually played a game during the season. "Nobody" showed up on the free agent list, but not in the list of players to choose from. I even tried doing a custom filter for last name of "Nobody" and struck out. Thanks for providing me with a good challenge. But, unfortunately, I'm all out of ideas. |

Right after I conceded defeat, I figured out how to do it.
In that test league, Jack Clark won NL MVP. I then edited his name to "Nobody". In order to give him a blank first name, you have to use the space bar and give him a first name that is a single space. Otherwise, Jack will remain as the first name. The award winners don't get added to the award winners list until the preseason. So, change the name right before the preseason. Then, after the preseason starts and " Nobody" gets added to the award list, edit the name back to Jack Clark. There is some weirdness. A team still shows up and his stats still show up. But, at least it shows that Nobody was the award winner. Last edited by nyy26wc; 09-07-2013 at 04:42 PM. |

Thanx and I may consider doing it that way, but I was hoping for the 1st award to be given out in 1911. I'll add this to my wishlist although it's not that big of a deal. Maybe Markus will continue to improve Historical in 15 & 16.

Sounds like a good thing to add to the wishlist. Also, that would enable us to start activating the Cy Young Award (or whatever other name might be appropriate in any particular league) in 1956 (or whatever other year might be appropriate for that particular league).
