Should Managers Have a Prestige?
There is something very wrong here. I understand that the game doesn't understand this, it just looks at the guy's ratings and maybe determines he is now best as a bench coach, but... after his run with New York, he would NEVER IRL accept anything other than a manager position.
Maybe a prestige rating would accomplish that? Like certain managerial accomplishments kinda take you up a ladder until there is some point where a guy would just either only be a manager or not have a job (aka tv gig) Look at this! ![]() I know in the grand scheme it's very nitpicky, but the guy won 5 titles and 7 pennants in a decade and promptly decided to become someone's bench coach. Something so small but it takes a bit of the realism out of it for me. Last edited by korme; 09-06-2013 at 01:48 PM. |

Definitely nowhere near the caliber of the guy you showed, but at least it's in the ballpark (pun):

Yes. I've always thought this. It should be hard (though not impossible) to convince a long-time manager to become a bench/pitching/hitting coach. As it stands now, I believe the only factor is the amount of money you offer them.

Not to mention that The Rifleman would never ever be a bench coach.

This is one of several upgrades to the manager/personnel system that should be considered - I get tired of seeing legendary managers taking jobs in the minor leages, or as pitching coaches.

I am less unhappy that a seasoned manager would choose to become a bench coach (because that DOES happen, albeit rarely), but the fact that veteran managers/coaches will takes jobs in SIngle A. That doesn't happen.
