NHL Oldtimers League - where nobody retires and no stars were born

I'm not sure if this goes in the Tech Support forum as there were no crashes or error messages. If so I'll be happy to post it there.

This is about a historical league which is filled with 100% fictional players, 90% of them over 40 years old, and where there are more 60+ players than those under 30. I've counted a dozen players in their 70's as of 1999.

The good news is I started this historical league in 1947 and as of 1999 it is still running without a single crash. And the sim speed is better too!

At first I noticed a few odd players having stellar NHL careers like Guyle Fielder (perhaps the top all time minor leaguer in the real world). In hindsight I saw why: no new real NHLers were being added to the game. The original historic players retired (making room for the fringe players like Fielder), but only fictitious ones replaced them. The fictitious players do not retire, so now they are old but still playing.

In the 1980's and '90s, players aged 50+ were leading the scoring race. Few players make more than the minimum salary.

Let's hope the game will let me play past 2012... I'd love to see 25 years from now the first 100 year old NHLer!

Too bad Gordie Howe had to retire at age 51 (as in real life). With all those mediocre fictitious players filling the league, he had 8 seasons of 80+ goals starting in his 40's including 96 in his final year!

Settings:

Historical league, started 1947.
No expansion (league expanded anyway)
No expansion draft
Draft Rookies off I think?

Rayzor, I'm not sure if you misunderstood... I didn't set this up, it is a problem with the historical league that the historic players weren't being added to the game each year, and that the filler fictitious players added in their place were never retiring. That is why the filler players were still playing decades later even into their '80s. The oldest player I saw when I cycled through the team rosters in 2013 was 88.

I'd like to have a look at that league, can you upload the save? (Instructions here)

The only time I've seen something like this in testing was in the WHA, months ago when were were getting that league working and the rosters filled with fake players because the teams couldn't sign real ones (which is the only time faked players should ever happen - those are an indication that something's gone wrong with the database, because there should be more than enough real players in any given year. There's no retirement code for them in historical games, since they shouldn't appear in the first place and, if they somehow do, are so terrible that they won't be kept on a roster for more than a season.)

The only way I can see a league filling with those players is something seriously wrong with the database files that prevents the game from importing real players at all. So I'd like to see the file and try to figure out what happened.
