Smile Update on Patch 5.

Hey guys,

as most of you are aware, we are currently working on patch #5. It will be a maintenance update and fix a few issues that were introduced with the changes we had to do in patch #4, mainly (very rare) Facegen issues and speed issues on the Mac. The problem is, that these issues happen only for a very small number of users and are likely related to hardware / driver issues. These are always the hardest problems to reproduce and fix, but we do the best we can here, Andreas is working on these issues for 3 weeks now. I have been fixing other bugs in the meantime, including the one related to minor leaguers getting moved to the 60-day DL by the AI.

There is no 100% sure timetable for the release of the patch, but I hope we'll be ready at the end of next week.

Alright, that's it for now. Have a nice weekend!
Markus

sounds good thanks! I do pray that one of the fixes is having minor league and major league stats combined in the play by play. really annoying and have had in version 13 and 14.

H Markus,

I'm one of the "unique" users who is having problems with Facegen using PhotoFit (fg) files on a Windows 7 64-bit Dell laptop. I'm seeing Facegen update pictures more often than it should need to - even without anything changing. But the big problem I'm seeing is Facegen occasionally generating a picture without a face - only a background. Usually a sure-fire way for me to reproduce this is to open OOTP, play a bit, and then leave it open and idle for a time. Sometimes I put my laptop to sleep while OOTP is still open. When I come back, usually the first picture that Facegen has to generate after this idle period will have no face. If I click on Same Picture, it fixes it, and all subsequent Facegen pictures generated will *usually* be fine until I have another idle period.

I've gotten into the habit of clicking on a pitcher's profile before playing out a game - if I forget to, usually the first player in the game who has his pic generated has no face and just a background - and there's no "Same Picture" button in game. Kind of annoying to be pitching to a sunset.

Let me know if you want my league files, Markus! Hope Andreas can figure this out! Thanks!

Hopefully, the splits bug will be fixed, where the stats will show a full season's worth of splits rather than the last few games?

Will the new patch allow OOTP to work on Surface Pro again, or is that a Microsoft issue?

I am running the version before the current one - I never updated because of the reported issues - and I am also having issues with the game updating player pictures when it shouldn't. Windows 8 64-bit, i7, 12 GB memory on my laptop, and the same but 16GB on my desktop. This may possibly be a Windows 8 issue and not one related to this patch.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Just wanted to say I am running the latest version of OOTP on a laptop similar to yours (i7, 8GB memory, Windows 8 64-bit) and not having any of the reported facegen issues in my game.

I wonder what it is then?

I'm one of the ones with the slow running mac problem. If it helps, I posted it on the Support forum:

Quote:
I installed 14.3.x. GUI ran smooth. Installed 14.4.23 on top of that, GUI runs choppy and sluggish. Rolled back to 14.3. Ran fine.

I reinstalled 14.4.23. I adjusted the resolution settings and it ran smoothly (or at least reasonably so). I closed the game, reopened, back to choppy and sluggish with same resolution settings.

Repeated, same problem. Started program, choppy. Adjusted resolution, smooth. Closed and reopened, back to choppy.

Now, it could be just mine (that would suck) but considering the other versions below ran smooth all the time, I think it's a bug in the program.

And it doesn't matter what the resolution is, when you close and reopen it runs sluggish regardless until you change the res to something else. Once you change it, it runs better until you close and reopen.

Running Mac OS X 10.6.8 on an older Core 2 duo.
Let me know if there is more I can do to help.

Also, in this patch, could you guys make the salary demands of free agents commensurate to the league they were created in. As in, first year players created for indy leagues should be asking for a salary on par with the average salary of that indy league. As they develop in skill and ability then they could as for more...

I'm on PC, but I noticed that OOTP is also running a lot slower after the patch. To sim one day involves clicking the button, waiting for OOTP to respond, then 30 seconds later finally being done. There used to only be a 5 second or so delay.

I was finally able to track down where my issue is occurring - anytime I minimize OOTP and maximize it again, the first picture that OOTP needs to regenerate will have an invisible face. It's like clockwork. All other Facegen generated faces are fine after that first one until I have to minimize and maximize again. Bizarre, eh?

Hope the fact that I was able to narrow this down a bit helps Andreas find the issue.

I'm just hoping because I quit playing due to the 60 man DL issue. At the time, I didn't figure it would be this long...today sure would be nice.
