Any suggestions on working with the Stickware Scheduler??..I'm disappointed in OOTP's schedule...seems I spend an inordinate amount of time in trying to balance the number of game with each team (no interleague play), and mostly to have at least 13 games against teams within the respective division. Even when I move the schedule around manually, I find myself having to create a spreadsheet to be sure I don't totally screw everything up. Are other folks using the Scheduler, and if so, are your schedules balanced?? I thought about unbalanced schedules but some weaker teams end up playing stronger teams 16 times (out of their division), which doesn't seem fair.... Suggestions would be helpful...I know no program is perfect, but I'd be curious what other folks are doing??

Stickware is the best thing I've seen so far, but it does make the shedules sort of unbalanced. I suppose if you messed with it enough you could get a balanced schedule and I assume that is what you're asking about here. Wasn't sure if you're asking how to use Stickware's program or how to use it.
Tiger fan's schedules are good but you have to have leagues that have the same structure, and some of them are only 154 games which can throw off the financials without some adjustments.

Thanks..Port...no, I'm trying to achieve a balance schedule to the extent I can...I get close but not the results I want...which, I guess, is the best I can hope for. I'm just thinking an unbalanced schedule will give certain teams an advantage over others..though this may not necessarily be the case as some weaker teams do occasionally seem to have stronger team's "number."

I agree, its better than having a schedule with no staggered days. Always having starter 1 face starter 1 is unfair to decent #1 guys who aren't Cy Young every year.

If you have a set schedule you want then the only way you'll get it perfectly done the way you see it is to do it yourself and then enter it by hand.
Depending on the number of potential matchups your teams can have it will take a couple of hours to plan out and then a couple of hours to enter into the game by hand. However when you are done you'll never have to worry about having that perfect schedule again, unless you expand or realign the league. Something else to look at are Tiger Fan's pre-made schedules if you have the right setup you may find something that meets your needs with those files. They are linked from http://www.bigcitybaseball.com (I believe they are actually hosted at Baseball Sim Central) [ 05-24-2002, 09:25 PM: Message edited by: ScottVib ] |

Yeah, T.F.'s are solid if you have the right structure.
What would be ideal is if somebody hosted a set of schedule files that people submitted. It seems Tiger Fan is the only one that has shared them but there's gotta be more good ones out there that users have made. Dang its hot here in Washington state, most of us up here don't have AC. That's ok though, I have a cold Fat Tire and the Mariners are coming on soon.

I just noticed my slip up earlier...
"Wasn't sure if you're asking how to use Stickware's program or how to use it" Should have been "Wasn't sure if you're asking WHETHER to use it or how to use it." I had been working on webpages all morning and was a bit scatterbrained.
