Combined No-Hitter (Not news?)
![]() After Strasburg got injured, I needed 2 relievers to finish off the game. Not only was there no mention of a No-hitter in the pbp, or any generated league news, the opposing pitcher was named the player of the game! Sure he went the distance, but really? I think this should have at least generated a news story. |

well maybe because Strasburg didn't pitch the minimum innings to get the win.

First... congrats on the combined no-hitter. I came sooo close to my first combined no-no just a few days ago... My best righty reliever gave up back to back singles with two outs on the bottom of the 9th.. Which was a bit nerve racking, as it ended up being a 1-0 victory.
![]() Of course, I've always been snakebit with the no-no's... in roughly 40 seasons or so in my last three leagues of managing almost every inning, I've thrown one no-hitter... along with at least 8 or 10 one-hitters lost somewhere in the 9th inning. As far as your situation, yea it should have at least generated a news story. But with the 'game score' calculation being what it is... I can see how none of your guys did enough individually to take it. |

I don't think combined no hitters are recognized at all. I think they should be though.

congratulations on the combined no-hitter .... don't forget you can create your own news story along with it.
I had my first no-hitter the other day using Strasburg. I have had versions of this game since 2001 and FINALLY got my no-no LOL

I found this thread when looking for information about combined no-hitters after getting one myself in a vital play-off game (game 2 of a 5 game series, having been shutout 1-0 in game 1). It was my first no-hitter of any kind and also the first in a major league play-off game in my league (now finishing its 7th season).
I was surprised as well that there was no new story generated - I think there ought to be really - so I wrote one myself. My starting pitcher did get Player of the Game - he pitched 7 no-hit innings and came out of the game after giving up a lead-off walk (his 2nd of the game) in the 8th. I then used three relievers to get the final six outs and won the game 2-0. |

Yeah it would be nice if the game could catch these, but I assume it might be a little more challenging to detect a combined no-hitter than one by a single pitcher.
The nice thing is that if something like that happens, you can always write your own Game Recap and make it a league news story. That's what I do for big achievements I notice that the game doesn't (first major league homers from a big prospect, playoff clinching victories, etc.) |
