Aging/Player Development Modifiers

Last year, for OOTP 13, someone came up with the following modifiers:

Batter aging: .250
Batter development: 1.000
Pitcher aging: .375
Pitcher development: .900
Talent randomness: 67

Do these settings provide realism with OOTP 14, or is the default settings the way to go?

My personal preference is not to slow down aging to this extent. As MLB does more and more to remove PED's from the game I think you are going to see fewer players make it into their early/mid 40's. I have plenty of serviceable players who are 37-39 in my current fictional league with the default settings. My current 3rd baseman is 38 and still playing at a high level.

As for the talent randomness I like to leave it at 100 and have thought about going to something like 125. At 67 you're not going to see many surprises. While this may be the safe route in that you won't see many of those high picks crash and burn, you also won't see 10th round picks who suddenly get a boost and make major league rosters.

I had a player make my team this season who hadn't been on my radar and when I checked his history he was a low 8th round pick (10 rnd draft) 4 years previous. This is in a small 16 team fictional league. In my opinion 1st round picks shouldn't be automatic. Plenty of those guys never make it IRL.

Default is way better than last year.

I'm very inclined to leave talent randomness at default, regardless. I like the idea of the possibility of a mid-late round pick making it to the majors and maybe even turning into a star.

For the record, I currently have the settings at default. HOWEVER (and I've had the game since release), I have only made it through one season thus far, which means that I, personally, have not been able to gather enough information to draw my own conclusions. When in doubt...ask the OOTP community.

I use default with TCR at 67. Only reason: while yes, I like to see some late round picks develop into stars, TCR ALSO affects established ML players. At 100 I see many multiple time all stars each year crash and burn.

I never seen TCR make an impact on established players. From what I've experienced in my game I came to the understanding that it might only change potential ratings.

Vets crashing and burning came from the aging modifiers (and from injuries) which are much much better than the previous year's default settings.
