Custom AI Options Screen

What do you guys like to do with these settings in an attempt to replicate the most real to life simulation?

These are the defaults:

Realism can be subjective but I personally tested these settings extensively and I felt the settings of..

Lineup- Traditional

Rating weight- 25
Current year stats- 25
Last year stats- 25
2 years ago- 25

Trade frequency- Average (on par with reality)
Trade difficulty- Very Hard (Should be user preference)
Trade preference- Heavily favor prospects

Those settings personally gave me a "realistic" experience or "smarter AI"

Also, do not forget to check "base OVR on AI Eval" which is located at the bottom of the global setup page.

The settings page you show are not the game's true default settings. What you are showing are the option settings that are included in the MLB quickstart game. This game was created, and is annually updated, by volunteers. AFAIK, these settings and a few other settings in the game, were chosen by one individual several years ago, and have never been changed thru several evolutions of the quick start.

When OOTP creates a new historical or fictional game game, the default settings are quite different. There is no way to objectively determine what settings are most realistic.

Understood. The world is so full of grays instead of black and white!

Why do you feel favoring prospects is more realistic? I have always felt a proven player (veteran) is worth more than an unproven one.

Being that prospects are usually rated 20 (or 1 star) and vets have a higher OVR (I have stat heavy AI Eval) I still see vets being more valued than prospects.

I also noticed that the AI tend to dump salary for prospects. I see the AI dumping of its all star player (if its rebuilding) for younger prospects all the time now.

Is this aspect of the game in anyway related to "team focus"?

I can't say for sure but in my experience it seem it has an effect. I never see a team with "win now" dump its all star with a year or 2 left on his contracts for a bundle of prospects, its always the teams that are labeled "rebuild" and it usually happen in July.

Also Gm's and Managers have their own slider for player preference so that may have another side effect.
