Want To Try

OOTP 14 looks awesome, and I really want to give it a shot, but I would like to try it before dropping $40 on it. I found a demo on gamershell website for ootp 13 but am not sure its legit. I was also thinking of just dropping $5 on the ios version, what can the pc version do that the ipad version cant?

its worth every penny. You could have purchased it 50% off last week if you were quicker.

If you want something fast and basic then iOS version would be fine for you but if depth is what you want then definitely go with the full version.

Im not sure if there's a demo, someone else could help with that.

Thanks for replying, I know that's what making me mad, I just heard about this game for the first time today, and I am struggling to pay $40 for a game that was $20 a week ago. I may just try the ios version. Could you, or someone else go into more detail on what I will be missing on the ios version.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Everything important is missing. Don't get the iOS version.

The iOS version can replay historical seasons, and create simple fictional leagues. It cannot create or edit players, though you can change the team names and cities. iOS version also lacks any sort of online league play, or really any way to share the game with anyone.

I like it for quick baseball fixes, but the full version has enough options for nearly any league you could imagine, and a dedicated site with great people who make mods for uniforms, logos, stadiums, player photos, international leagues, negro leagues...

If you want a great sim, you will likely be very happy with ootp. I am in the process of switching my 25 year league to it... Getting ready for a test run soon. If it does not work out for some reason - I can't imagine why, since almost everything can be tweaked until satisfied - you could still get a refund in 14 days.

Good luck and welcome!

Well, what I really want it for is to be able to be a "GM" of a current team, doing trades, signing extensions and seeing how my team can perform. I'm not interested in fictional or historical right now, just current, could the ipad version do what I'm looking for? Also I don't know if any of you play mlb the show, but can you do fantasy drafts like that and make a team from scratch but with real players on the pc or ios version?

I also play GM. iOS version has a limited farm system where as the full version has every minor league except for Dominican/Venezuelan summer leagues (but it has the international complex or academy as I call it)

You can also add as many other leagues as you want in the full version whether its the Nippon league or more minor leagues. You can not do this in the iOS version. There are also tons of options available for you to tailor the game to your liking which is also not given to you in the iOS version.

And yes there is fantasy draft, but I am not sure if the iOS version has that or not.

Another question, am I going to buy this game for $40 then want to buy OOTP 15 next year for $40 again, or can I keep updating rosters and what not and wait a few years to get it again? Also, is there really a 14 day refund policy?

You can do a fantasy draft from any season 1871-2013. i have not played the iPad version and I believe it is a lesser version. I thought you had to buy seasons. Don;t know for sure don;t want to tell you false info.
I am the GM of the 2013 White Sox. I do trades I run them I also cloned myself off of RA Dickey and am the teams #3 starter a 37 yr old rookie. I also have a 2013 Fantasy league i drafted Bryce Harper #1 overall.

no clue on the refund. You will want 15 when it comes out in early to mid April 2014. Thats a long time away. The game may release end of season rosters like they did last year but you wont get Opening day rosters with the PC version until OOTP 15. Pre ordering will give you a $10-$15 discount.

You can import your game to the next version of OOTP, so you can pick up right where you left off in your save if you decided to buy a newer version. There aren't really constant roster updates. As far as I now, the rosters are frozen at opening day.

Alright, I'm really tempted to buy the iPad version because its much cheaper and I'm not sure how many of the features on the pc version I would use. Right now the only thing I will be comparing this to is doing franchise mode in mlb the show... lol

Yes. That quoted post is from the lead developer. It also says it on the website somewhere, if you do a search for it.

I would try the full version first and get your refund if you don't like it especially if you are looking to replace MLB The Show's Franchise mode. I can't get into that game's franchise mode after playing this game. RTTS is the only thing I play now lol.

I have the iOS version and my only use for it is to kill time lol. The full version blows it away, its honestly a different game IMO.

Not sure about that, but I read in another thread that you can get a refund within 14 days. Doubt you'll want your money back, though!

Oh, it was in this thread where I read that. I feel dumb.

It will be 2014 (next year) I think, unless Markus announced he is taking a year off? I can't imagine I would have missed that news.
