Unknown city of birth

Hi everyone. I just started playing this year's game... I always do the MLB quickstart, delete all the real players / replace with fictional, sim about 10 years to let the stats level out, erase the history, sim a few more years then take over a team.

I'm noticing a lot of players with Unknown city of birth. Anyone know if there's a reason for this? Does it have to do with one of the new features? Is there a way to fix it, if not?

What players exactly?

I'm not really seeing any patterns... my initial thought was maybe it was the international complex players, but that's not it because I'm seeing players who were drafted that have an unknown city of birth. Also, it seems to be about 30% of all my players.
