I'm so glad that I was loyal enough pre-order and save $5. Once again the dependable customers get shafted while the "new" customers get treated like royalty. As they say, though, it's cheaper to get a new customer than to keep an old one.

Gibson swings, and a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5 to 4; I don't believe what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw!

I hardly feel shafted - I just think of all the great gameplay I've gotten out of the game since I pre-ordered.

Shafted? Hardly. It is very much worth the full price. We all knew the All-Star discount comes around every year so you could have just waited if it was that important to you.

By offering the discount hopefully OOTPD will draw in some more dedicated customers. The stronger the customer base, the more $$ OOTPD pulls in, the more they can do to make a great product better.

What a strange comment. I don't even begin to understand what you're on about

You get an extra three months of use out of the game by ordering when it comes out. Well worth the extra $.

It's also standard industry practice to discount a game a few months after it comes out. Knowing that, if you don't wish to pay full price and get the game when released you always have the option to wait for a sale before buying. I've done that many times with other games. Not OOTP though, it's just too good to wait for!

Given all that I really can't imagine why you think you have a valid reason to complain.

What a weird comment. OOTP has been discounted at the All-Star break for a long time. If you want to save money next year, wait until next year's All-Star break and buy OOTP 15 for half price then. But I don't recommend it, because you'd be giving up a lot of fun for twenty bucks.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Woot! Got my copy. I was thinking of getting OOTP13, since I don't really have $40 to spare to spend on a video game (even a great one like OOTP), but $20 I can handle (barely!). At last, I have upgraded past OOTP11. Thanks, OOTP team!

It's all about perceived value. I value OOTP highly enough to pre-order where I still get a discount instead of waiting until the ASG. I want to play the new version asap every year.

OTOH I find MLB TV not enough value to buy early in the season but when they put it on for $50 on Fathers day I snap it up PDQ. At that number it's well worth it.

I looked at FM13 today at $20. Still not sure. I may wait for a new version and pay more again based on value.

I'm considering buying a third copy of OOTP now as I just got a third computer. My son uses C1X2 I use C2X2 and I have a new laptop with no copy available.

You are going to like this version. I thought v13 was great but v14 is better in some really key areas.

OOTP has never been half price during the All-Star Break. Last year it was only 25% off. If I expected that the powers that be were going to double the usual All-Star discount, I'd have waited. I am in a big group of people on here that always pre-order this game (and I know that you are, too). So loyalty gets us an 8% discount when otherwise you could get a 50% discount. It doesn't sit well with me, and I can't imagine that I'm the only one.

Check Steam.. they have some crazy sales going on right now.. picked up many games for 50% off or more and some of them haven't been out as long as OOTP.

I use Steam all the time and every time I buy a game 75% off I also feel bad that those saps that had been waiting countless hours for it's release and paid at or near full price.

You guys are free to feel however you like about this, the same way I am free to feel how I like about it.

What do you think Markus should do differently? What do you propose?

I propose a standard discount. Pre-orders were discounted 9%. Seems quite a bit much to then discount All-Star buyers 50%. Set the same discount rate and bust that one out every discounted period. I have no problem with discounts to woo customers. Just don't discount more than what you do for those of us that pre-order. Fairly simple.
