Baseball Quality

I have noticed that every time I create a new league from scratch, the baseball quality of nations randomize each time (i.e. Japan, Cuba, Venezuela, poor baseball quality) Is this typical? I never recall the baseball quality becoming random in 12 or 13. Is there a way to lock it in to the default MLB settings or settings that I choose?

Um, maybe. I never heard of this happening and I cannot even guess why it would be a game option. Maybe try a game uninstall/reinstall.

I organized baseball quality from excellent to non-existent to show a clearer picture of what I'm describing.

I have experience this too I just took as randomize it changes per games but I don't see why it should

That's strange.

I'd suggest posting in the bug forum and uploading your league files. That shouldn't be happening, something's not right.

Have you made any changes to your World XML, either in game or outside through editing?

If not, I'd try uninstall reinstall because it sounds like the World.XML might be messed up.

Never touch the world.xml file. I uninstalled and reinstalling now.

I had that problem once, turned out that their OOTP ftp was off.

Thanks Andreas. I will figure it out.

Ultimately I did an un-install, re-install and it's back to normal. I wondering if trying to edit the % of foreigners is what did me in. For example adjusting default player origin, amateur draft pool origin, international origin for scouting discoveries, and Int. established FA origin. That's when my problems began.

I've noticed that if your league has teams based in other countries besides the 'Excellent' ones, those countries' baseball quality get upgraded. So if you have a European league, a lot of European countries will become high-rated countries.

Note though that 'Baseball Quality' doesn't mean anything any more in OOTP, so it's really just cosmetic. The Baseball Quality figure used to control the number and quality of your 'hidden player' discoveries in earlier versions of OOTP. Now, you control the number of players from each country yourself, in league setup, and a random discovery from Venezuela is no more or less likely to be good than a random discovery from Kiribati.

So if it's a bug, it's one that doesn't make any difference to you.

I'm experiencing the problem again. I installed the game in my new laptop (old one died) and baseball quality was correct. The only mod I used was Questdog's names mod. It is possible that could be my issue. I will check in with him.

Questdog's thread confirms the baseball quality issue in post 15 and 16. Thanks everyone for your help.
