Purge

Been noticing a lot of suggestions about doing the occasional purge to clean up the database. i tested on one my leagues just to see what it does, how it works

my question for the game gurus is,
How often should one purge their database? Every hundred years?
Depends on the league size I hear you say.

So three examples.

Major league QS, all 6 minor leagues?

A 20-24 team league with 2 levels of minors?

A 10 team league with 4 levels of minors?

Curious on the recommendation for those

Probably no need to purge if you're just normally running the league in any of those cases as all of those are very small universes. Once every 50 years or so should be more than enough.

Purging is really most useful if making major changes to the structure of the leagues. Adding and deleting many leagues, individual teams or large quantities of players.

For anyone running leagues such as you describe and not making many manual changes, the purge tool isn't really required.

Seriously, though, note his recommendations to BACKUP your league before you proceed, especially in view of his temporary (but serious) concern about losing player histories:

no purge yet- am very early in my games, more just looking ahead to what year may be a good year, when their may actually be a need- so was getting some way in advance info on it
