Hitting .400

Have you ever had anyone hit .400?

I've simmed 60+ years (2013-2077) and never had anyone hit .400.

I had a guy hit .3992, which was insanely close. Rounded down to .399. Same guy came very close to .400 a couple of times.

Shoeless Joe Jackson has done it a couple of times in my fictional league which is made up of players from all eras including the current.

This is just since 1999 and spans 2 league MLB and a fictional league but I have had 4. Also on 13 not 14. Fictional league
1. Kevin France (clone of Eddie Collins) .419, 2004 (my team)
2. John Wayne .417 2003
3. Luke Skywalker .405 2004 (my team)
I also currently have a 1B hitting .459 thru 23 games no biggie there
MLB (full import of records)
6. Todd Helton .422 2000

I also had Barry Bonds hit .402 in 2004 but I had to replay that season He ended up then only playing 23 games.

I have a league going from 2002 (started in v4) to 2025 (imported version to version now in v14) that is still on going. I have had one guy hit over .400.

Ken Householder hit .409 in 2021. For perspective league average was .262 in 2021.

Desmond Naquin hit .3990 in 2016. League average in 2016 was .268.

So neither guy did it in a pumped up offensive league.

The next closest is a minuscule .3758

I had a guy hit .400 back in OOTP 6, but not since then.

It's a good story, actually. He was sitting at .400 with 2 days to go in the regular season. We had already clinched a playoff spot, so I sat him for the last two days. Somewhat foolishly, I simmed the last two games to get to the playoffs.

The AI used him as a pinch hitter in both games. He went 2-2 in those appearances.

Of course he was using 'the force' so he doesn't count.

(Sorry, couldn't resist).

Ken Caminiti playing in Colorado hit .400. George Brett. But it's usually a marginal, less than full-time player, who spurts out for 1 year. Hasn't happened much at all over numerous historical replays.

Ty Cobb and Shoeless Joe Jackson in my first 6.5 league. I think Cobb did it twice. No one since.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

I'm about 3.25 seasons into a fictional British Premier League. My first pick in the inaugural draft (4th overall) is a LF who's hit .374, .383, .409. It's 112 game seasons. He hasn't played more than 96 games in any of them due to injury, but has qualified for the batting title each year (2nd, 1st, 1st).

The Continental League has had three .400 seasons. Yogi Seitzer did it in the first year of the league in '88, and Tim Long had a couple of .400 seasons in the 90s. The CBL is more-or-less on the same run context as modern MLB.

I do have several indy or foreign leagues in my universe with higher offensive levels where hitting .400 is not uncommon. And a Greenland Winter League where hitting as poorly as .400 gets you slotted in 8th or 9th in your team's lineup and probably sent to the reserve squad.

Sounds like your modifiers are a bit off

In my league a no hitter. Some scrub just threw a no hitter in my main league but none for any of the top 10 pitchers. On 12 my best pitcher had 4 in 6 seasons, my #2 had 3 and my #4 had 1. I have yet to have one in game that i managed or for anyone on my team in 13. Has this changed in 14 Wolf? Might give me reason to buy it sooner before my top 3 pitchers retire.

In my league there has been only 2 no-no's. starting 2013 now just finishing 2016 season (4 seasons) I have yet to have a player on my team since the version from 2001 pitch a No-no. NOT complaining but when I do get one I will post it big time as some sort of celebration LOL. As stated above never in any of my older versions of OOTP of .400 either. ALL in good fun

If by "off" you mean not matching modern MLB, then yes, absolutely. It's on purpose. I find it kind of boring to have a 45-league universe with 45 leagues that approximate the conditions of modern MLB.

I designed the Greenland Winter Ice Baseball League to have a BABIP over .400, and ludicrously poor fielding to approximate playing baseball on a frozen pond in -30 degree weather.

I like that the Sao Tome Baseball Conglomeration has a .914 league OPS, and one team has scored 1200 runs through the 168th game of a 240-game schedule. And that the Timberline League is all in high-altitude parks with home run rates comparable to the more extreme parks in the California League. My Mexican League is like the real Mexican League, where hitting .400 is not uncommon, where the real Julio Franco hit .437 there as a 42-year-old. And the Portland Municipal League has a .601 OPS so far and a 3.13 league ERA.

Do you have a quickstart, I would love to look at your league setup?

My league started on OOTP 13 and is now in 2058...I've never had a .400 hitter...closest I came was Will Clark Jr. (Cloned from a computer generated guy), who hit .392 in his best season, but went on to break Pete Rose's career hits record.

I've had 43 no-hitters during this same time...but never mor than two by any individual pitcher.
