iOOTP used just to simulate games
I'm just looking for a baseball simulation enabled for a mobile device that will allow me just to simulate individual games for any historical season, not looking for anything more. It appears to me this game is far more intended for a 'general manager fictional team building' thing, which I am not interested in. Is my very limited interest not a good fit here and thus I should pass on a mobile download?

I would think it would do what you are looking for. I do not know how historically accurate the computer, in setting up line ups and rotations, etc., is. What I mean is, I don't know if the computer says, player X batted lead of in 1902 so they will bat lead off in the simulation, or if at applies other criteria for setting line ups and so on. Even if so, you can modify the settings to specify batting order, rotation, etc.
What it will not do is give you many options for preserving your simulation data or printing it out. Once the season is over, season data is gone. Once players retire their data is gone. There is no way to print the data (short of screen captures). I guess I would say this: last I checked, it is $4.99 to download the app and it comes with 4 historical seasons you could test it on. You buy all of the other historical seasons at extra cost. I guess $4.99 is $4.99 but you aren't going to be out much if it doesn't do what you want (and will still have a pretty cool game). |

What you really want is Strat-O-Matic for iOS. They have a computer version, and of course there is the boardgame, and there is a dumbed down online version, but SOM would be the way to go for sure. However, there is no SOM for a mobile device.
![]() SOM uses historical results to reflect a players ability and their statistical average. A wonderful game, for sure. Doc |
