I'm sure this has been asked countless times before, but...
Using the default 2013 rosters results in extremely low batting stats. There's only about one or two players whose averages exceed .320. I've tried upping the total number of hits in the league modifiers section, but this results in extremely high team total batting average. What can I do? |

Sounds like natural variance.
In 2012 only 5 qualified batters across both leagues had batting averages greater than .320. |

Exactly. Baseball is currently skewing toward pitching and defense. The current league batting average is .253. In 2003, it was .262. That's a pretty significant difference.

Well, it's official: I'm an idiot.
Looks like I gotta brush up on my baseball knowledge, or lack thereof. Thanks! |

Check league history for BA and ERA before you made changes.
Also it's strange to see league BA go up when you increase hits in the league totals. BA should go down. Did you make any other changes? You should change the modifier only. It's more intuitive. BTW what is the modifier for hits, and what is the BABIP? Are the actual league totals correct for 2012 MLB. A screenshot would help. Sorry about the cross-examination but more info is needed.

It offen happens to me especially when making a trade the player invariably stinks that first half year then the following year If you should keep him seems to find himself again and do very well. Same thing happens with rookies although I have had 1 nice surprise but just keep sticking him out there to play he will eventually kick some heads to play. I have also noticed that if you have a leader on your team in the lineup the team does so much better too. I had a player who just couldn't hit a barn. But when one of my leaders came back from DL. It just seemed like this guy couldn't miss anymore suddenly. He went from being a .249 hitter to threatening .300. At the moment he is hitting .284 he slowed down a bit. But still doing his damage.

.320 AVG is very high, and quite rare I think. Only 18 players hitting above that in the majors right now.
Infact, only 35 hitting over .300. |
