Marlins Redesign

December 7, 2017

In response to growing opposition to the Miami Marlins' graphical overhaul from 2012, ownership has finally announced plans to change the team's image again.

"It's clear that the public never really understood our vision for the team," a team spokesman reluctantly admitted in Wednesday's press conference. "It didn't grow on them as we'd hoped."

No details have been released, but the tone in Miami is cautiously optimistic. The Marlins have not been to the playoffs since their World Series victory in 2003, and had finished last in their division 6 straight years - until this past season, when an 82-80 record put them 3rd. Fans have been flocking to the Marlins' AL counterpart, as the Rays have become a serious contender in recent years. While the Marlins' record certainly is the main reason, their garish jerseys featuring bright blue and neon orange were also a factor. The uniforms have drawn ire from both baseball traditionalists and the small contingent of remaining Marlins fans, and baseball enthusiasts around the nation are still in disbelief that the team has remained in Miami against all odds.

With an over-.500 season under their belt, a core of young talent, and an impending design change, the Marlins' future may finally be looking up. Time will tell if anyone actually cares.

February 6, 2018

The Miami Marlins' new jerseys have been revealed. The logo itself hasn't changed, but gone is the eye-torturing color scheme. Orange and blue has been replaced by teal and navy, and the home jersey features a rehash of the Marlins' long-standing wordmark.

While many fans won't be overly pleased with the decision to keep the stylized "M" plastered across the uniforms, the overall look is very traditional, and appears to be a fair compromise between the two contrasting styles the Marlins have worn over the years.

"Call us stubborn," a Marlins spokesman said in yesterday's unveiling ceremony, "But we still like the current logo. We hope that the change in color scheme will be acceptable to the loyal Miami community."

Whether or not that was a backhanded insult is still being debated.

I'm surprised no one's done this yet (granted, I only did a cursory search of the forum, so I could have missed it). It's the year 2018 in my MLB game, and I decided I'd had more than enough of the... er, vivid Marlins logo. I do like the design in general - the stylized Marlin above the M is pretty cool, in my opinion. But those colors had to go. To me, the Marlins will always be teal and black, and so I changed them back to it, with a little navy blue thrown in.

Tell me what you think. I'm open to making changes.

Nice!

(Even though I like the current Marlins unforms, too)

These are great. It's like semi-throwback too lol. The marlins will forever be teal and gray with black to me
