Minor league teams don't have full rosters
Hey,
How important is it that my minor league affiliates have full rosters with people playing their proper positions? Is it a big deal if my Single-A team only has like 15 players or is that recipe for overworking my players and yielding more injuries/stalling development? Thanks, Joe |

Not sure if I can really answer your question, but here are a couple of ideas. First, you can turn on ghost players -- though I've never done this myself so don't know much about it. Second, and this is what I do, you can sign a bunch of young free agents to minor league contracts.
I would not just let the minor league team play on with the short roster you described. Also, you can just turn over the responsibility for managing your minor league rosters to your minor league managers (i.e., to the AI). Then the AI will sign additional free agents for you to fill out the rosters. |

Build your minor league teams right. Sign players, have a full starting rotation, MR, and CL. In fact, you can have an overage of players, and it won't hurt a bit. I've noticed, for example, that after playing through my 2013 season, every minor league player, all the way down to rookie short season, had a solid number of innings pitched, at bats, etc. The AI field managers seem to do a good job of platooning players and playing the better guys more.
BTW, in last year's game, I noticed that one of my rookie short season teams must have started the 2012 year with only pitchers. I didn't notice that until a couple of weeks through the season, so I had to buy a bunch of virtual bus tickets for some 19 year old kids and even out the team

it all comes down to how you set up your minors. If you check the option to allow imcomplete minors, enabling ghost players, the minors will operate with ghost player to make up where you dont have real players. I never require full majors, I like having to not worry if my lowest minors is set up right and it makes it less work, I can concentrate on the ml team.
If you do not check this option, making it so that you do require full minors, you can run into problems where other teams may not have full teams and you have to work them to get it right (at least this has happened to me in the past) Hope that helps some.
