Real players with random names?
Is there a way (especially an easy way) to import a list of real, historical players (like the Seamheads Laundry League Quickstart from last year) and then randomize the names of all the players?
I was thinking of doing this with a custom list of all-time greats I've compiled, but I'd love to then randomize the names for the draft so I can't let my knowledge/bias about the real player have any effect on who I draft and where. Even better would be if I could then have it switch back to the real names after-the-fact, but that's a pipe dream. Thoughts?

Start a new historical game. Click "use random players from all eras instead of real rosters." Once the game is created go to the league set up. In the bottom right of the league set up under "other functions" you'll see an option to "randomize player names." Click that and you are set! The names won't change back though but I believe you might be able to identify by player id #.

The best way to do this is to change the names in a database......create a league with fictional names (a really big league).....then export rosters and open it in Calc....copy and paste names from the fictional league over the real names in the master.csv file......of course, back up first.....you should also delete nicknames from the master.csv, if you don't want spoilers......you can also copy and paste the hometowns...copy the bottom half to the top and vice versa.....you'll probably need to create a few fictional leagues to generate enough names.....

I have a custom master.csv where I scrambled (generate a random number in the column next to what is to be randomized, copy that column, then past special values to same column, select the random #column and the column to randomize and sort on the random # column.)
I do the randomization seperately for each of the following columns. first name, last name, date of birth (after changing everyone to be born on 1/1 of their real birth year), birth country/city/state (random as one group), height/Weight (random as one group), I blank the nickname column so for example Ty Cobb may become Walter Uecker, and have the height and weight of Randy JOhnson and be born in Cincinnati, OH I then use that master.csv in a random debut league |
