Catchers Batting Leadoff....

Well, OOTP14 is the same as all the others. When the AI subs out your leadoff hitter because they are tired, why does it ALWAYS put your catcher into the leadoff spot? This has been like this in the game as long as I can remember. Why is this not fixed?

I think it's been determined that it is the 7th spot that gets moved to leadoff. Others have suggested making sure your catcher isn't in 7th spot in regular lineup to avoid this. It has been an ok workaround for me but I wish the AI would look at the all the players starting that day and come up with a lineup based on that. I know everyone has an idea of what a "good" lineup is but some of these catchers batting leadoff don't make a good fit no matter how you look at it. Would definitely be nice to see improvement in this area.

Maybe you just have awesome catchers that are capable of hitting leadoff.

Wha?!?

I'll have to pay more attention, but I've never noticed my catcher batting leadoff. Is there another post that details this phenomenon?

The seventh spot in the order thing is interesting. That may be what it is doing, since I often bat my catcher 7th. I will mix up lineup and see if that does it. It still would be nice if the player you sub-ed in for your leadoff hitter would just bat leadoff.

No, that would not always be nice. I don't usually have a clone of the player in as a sub, so wouldn't want my subs to simply bat in the starting player's lineup spot.

OOTP has always put together a decent lineup when my subs played. I never noticed my catcher batting leadoff or any of the subs in spots that made me scratch my head. I'll pay more attention now to see if I spot anything brought up in this thread.

I've noticed this a few times. It happened with Mauer who I had in the #2 spot in the regular lineup. However, I think that more than 1 person needed to be subbed that day.

My C bats 8th and still gets moved to #1 when my leadoff hitter with a .454 OBP and 65 SB is tired vs my 3B who is #2 in the league is sb and has a .343 OBP. My C has a .245 OBP
