Interest Level?

It seems lately that the FHM part of the forums has gotten fairly quiet lately. Just wondering if interest in this game is dying down, or is it some other reason?

I think activity on the forum coincides with the release of new betas. The forum was pretty dead until the announcement was made over Christmas that there would be a March release - and then the forums went crazy busy.

I think the interest is there - it's just that the forums have quietened for now.

What archibald said.
For every build lots of bugs are posted on the forums pretty quick and then it all dies down within a couple of days. There really is not any more to do with the game at its current state than fiddling around for a couple of hours and then putting it aside. The game is still unplayable and, I fear, will probably be unplayable for weeks to come.

It's definitely quiet, but I doubt it's a drop in interest. After all, it's still five months before release, so there's not a lot to see right now.

The release of the beta was exciting, but now it's back to business until release, at which point I'm sure the forums will blow up.

Speaking for myself I look at the forum daily (which does make it look any less dead ), but I don't have much to post or comment on for the most part - I will be very busy post-release I'm sure.

Speaking for myself it's what archibald said. I lurk and I download the content, then post as necessary. I know now to check usually every Wednesday to see if there will be data updates, or to get updates from Jeff, so that's usually when I check in.

Until Fictional Leagues become available,I've lost interest in the game. Plus the game play needs too improve .

OOTP14 was jujst released, MLB Season just started - everybody's busy playing that.

You can bet your last dollar come Aug/Sep interest in this game will climb steadily.

Interest Still Here

I don't think interest in the game has waned, but I'm sure there are those like me that are not participating in the beta and are awaiting the final release. Most of us know that's still a way off and have turned our interest back to OOTP until the release of FHM.

For myself, I still check in here pretty much daily (or multiple times a day) but I'm not currently playing the game. With each new build I start a game and play a season or two. Last time I tried the QMJHL and stopped when the game crashed after the season (I forgot to increase the auto-save frequency so lost four months). The prior release I played through about six seasons starting at the earliest historical date and stopped because the contract logic was too broken (among other issues) - Hall of Fame level players were having their careers killed because they didn't want to negotiate with the team that held their rights. Before that I had played through an NHL season which was a lot of fun until I hit the playoffs and the game crashed every time I hit a certain date.

Right now I don't see the point in playing a long term game because there are still too many holes in the game: scouting, trades, the drafts, the in-game experience, etc. all need significant work. There is some progress being made, but with frequent build updates and a small development team it's not always easy to see the improvements - I suspect if I took a month or two off and came back I'd be pleasantly surprised (but I'm too eager for this to wait those months).

I expect that the number of posts in this forum will remain quite low right through to September - there was an initial interest when the beta started, people were excited, tried it and now have moved on to other things.

My issue personally is I can only play these games offline so long before getting bored. Once you play online, offline pretty much is not an option, adding some customization will help, but eventually online will have to be THE way to play.

I think it died down because the game continually crashes at various points during game simulation and that problem has yet to be resolved. We all realize its still a beta product. I myself stopped playing it because I simply couldn't play past a certain point. The latest beta release didn't fix the crash.

I kind of figured it was because of that, and do agree with the playability issues at this point.

Lurking here as well. Keeping tabs on development and downloading updates when they are available. But as another poster stated, without fictional play or a full database yet I've lost interest until later builds.

The biggest thing to me is OOTP14. I just picked that up and haven't touched hockey since that day. When there is a new build that you can turn off the leagues you don't want, I will get back into it. I just hate the sim speed

I'm another lurker playing OOTP, but keeping an eye on impressions and such. I'll likely wait until closer to final release before preordering. I do like the direction the game's going in though

Yup, I'm lurking here as well. Not a day goes by where I don't think about this game and smile. I imagine this forum will explode as the game begins to come together, I know I'll be here.

I stopped posting as much, still downloading and messing around with every release and still anxious for the complete product.
