Well, that was fast...
My 2nd season in the new quickstart and Bryce Harper has the best season I've ever seen in an MLB QS (I've been playing since OOTPX): .405/.482/.827 63
HR 153 RBI, a 249 OPS+ and a whopping 17.3 WAR. Should they even bother with MVP voting this year? Last edited by tayloraj; 04-12-2013 at 02:47 PM. |

I've never seen anything like it in any type of league, and I've played in dozens. Harper had 464 total bases, which would be the all time record (while missing two weeks with an injury and appearing in only 144 games) and put together a 42-game hitting streak...just unfathomably great.

I've never played OOTP but played Draft Day Sports' Pro Basketball 3. Using this season's current rosters I played out about 20 seasons worth of games and Anthony Davis becomes the greatest player in NBA history, Michael Jordan included. It looks as if Bryce Harper is on his way to the same stardom.

I wouldn't use "lucky", I tend to hover around the traditionalist when it comes to stats, I like to see the special seasons and all, but that's just a bit to much video gameish than realistic.

very true but that was the roid era, MLB/OOTP is NOT in that era right now, so even more to my point is that a season like that shouldn't happen. But that's just me. The great thing about OOTP is there are 1,000 of ways to play it and everyone one can find the way they like best!

When I see such stellar performance in my league, the first thing that comes to mind...
trade for him. Surly a man of such talent has to be wearing my club's uniform, it would be a crime against baseball otherwise.

You better believe it.
A few seasons ago, I had a guy at 1B, was satisfied. But then some guy put up huge numbers playing for Washington. Huge power numbers, the guy was a superstar, just finished his third season and all his trends pointed up. I cant let such a talented star waste away in the god-forsaken lands known as the Washington Senators. So I picked up the phone and figured out what it would take to get him. They wanted a package of 4 guys, some big time prospects, and one well established major leaguer. Ok, if that is what you want, because I can always get more prospects, and this guy is gonna be my starting 1B when I win the World Series. Well, it turns out the deal was a total disaster.....for Washington. Everyone I gave them turned out to be total garbage, and I have a guy who for the next three seasons for me has finished no worse than 3rd in HRs, tops in RBI, his VORP is through the roof, MVP award in there....and oh yeah, we have won the World Series twice. Sorry club now known as the Twins, but your GM is horrible. Kiss my rings.

I'm glad(?) to report that, apparently, the video game numbers of 2014 were something of a fluke. Harper missed about a third of 2015 with hip and wrist injuries and was held to a measly .323/.425/.549 with 23 HR, 66 RBI, 17 steals and a 7.3 WAR in 107 games.
