I am ready
Just finished my last season on OOTP 13. It was a wonderful campaign. 1962, my club the White Sox ran away with the American League and never looked back, won 116 games my injury prone LF spent a bit of the early portion of the season on the DL but he finished strong, my stud 1B performed just as advertised, 2nd in the league in HRs, my new upstart C who I handed over the starting job last season after trading away the veteran I had behind the plate for many years in mid July, I was nervous about him but he lived up to his end of the bargain, finished 3rd in HRs, my RF who is in his third season had a break out year and won the batting title.
The National League was a race. The defending World Series Champion Reds had a firm grasp on the league in the early goings on, but the Phillies had a strong team as well, and they made a big trade for a stud RF, giving the Cubs a ton of prospects to get him. Good deal for the Cubs I think, they really got a lot for him, and it was yet another lost season for them anyway. After some solid play and with Cincinnati suffering a 9 game loosing streak at the end of Aug, beginning of Sept, they were caught and it was a 2 horse race between them and the Phillies. They each played each other in the final two games of the season and it ended up being Philadelphia that would be my World Series opponent. I was able to play a lot of my minor leaguers in the final weeks of the season as I had long since clinched the flag, and what a crop of minor leaguers they were. My AA club were just ridiculous and dominated, my AAA has no shortage of pitching, and now I have a dilemma coming up in next offseason. And after a dipterous start to the World Series, I drop both games 1 and 2 in Philadelphia, but rally back and won all three in Chicago. I had the lead in game 6 going into the ninth, but this one guy in the bullpen who had been suspect all season, and had been sent down to AAA for a stint to get himself right, he blew the game and the Phillies tied the series at 3. But game 7 was a joy. Down by one in the top of the 9th my side was able to get the leadoff man aboard, then steal a base and hit him over...my stud 1B comes up to the plate, and rips a double and ties the game. My often hurt LF was unable to finish up and take the lead, flies out weakly. Instead of the suspect reliever, the ball is handed over to one of the most reliable pitchers in the pen and he shuts them down in the bottom of the 9th. This Championship is going to be settled in extras. Top of the 10th, and comes up my young catcher. Pitch 1, a ball. Pitch 2.....outta here. Home run and I take the lead. the rest is history. Philadelphia was unable to mount a comeback and a simple 6-3 putout clinched the White Sox' 27th championship. Now I look at my LF, often hurt, maybe I can move him on and get something for him before he completely falls apart. My trusty SS who was the beginning of this great run I am on that has culminated in 3 World Series titles in 4 years, but he is 35 now, glove is not what it once was, and I will look to trade him and get something for him before he too falls apart. I have so much pitching in my minor league system that I will look to tear down my staff which is by far the best in the major leagues and rebuild it with all the youth I have clogging up my system. But all of this is not for v13. This is how my v14 will begin. To yet another fantastic version of OOTP. Cheers

What better way to end OOTP 13 than with an extra inning World Series win.
![]() 13 certainly was a fantastic version. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. |

Love these stories. It's players like your stud 1B and oft-injured but productive when healthy LF that really makes OOTP better and unlike any other sports game out there.

Yes indeed. Not meant to take anything away from OOTP 14 because it totally rocks, but I think I will still start games in 13 then eventually import them to 14. All in all, I will be playing both game for a long time to come.

Well...I know nothing about quickstarts, but I have it running now....
but this file is a monolith, I am gonna have to upload it to Mega or something, I that is even possible, this thing is gonna be huge. What is all saved in quickstarts anyway?

How big is it? If it is too big then dont worry about it. Template might make it smaller not sure.

Then don't bother. Sounds fun but downloading it would take forever and I dont want away from you playing 14. i am debating whether or not i want to play fictional or historical or both with a History of The White Sox league. This will be my 1st league I create on 14.

I figured out it was the almanac......so I will run again and get the quickstart then blow out the almanac that should keep the size down and if it is low enough I will post it somewhere. My almanac is huge. I save one every year and it saves everything.....everything. So having one for 1871 up to 1962.....there is a lot of files there. It is still in the middle of being copied over for the import into v14. Not sure why a 'quickstart' has those files in it......not like you are gonna want those files anyway.
