Too few goals in the NHL?

I know this has been mentioned before, but I'm just curious in how it's going with the NHL and the fact that almost no player average a point per game. And also if scorers like Ovechkin, Stamkos etc will produce more assists (atm they have way more goals than assists. In my current season Ovechkin has 56 goals and 19 assists).

Furthermore, the star players of the league rarely win the Art Ross. I have yet to see Crosby, Malkin and Stamkos win it.. In my current season, Voracek had the most point (82 pts in 82 games).

Is the problem with the game itself or the database?

I haven't seen an issue with goals per se, but there's definitely too few assists.

I agree, goals seem fine to me thus far (haven't tried latest database update yet) but assists and overall points are far too depressed at the moment.

in a couple of simulations i have seen both stamkos and crosby win them but i'm pretty sure in both cases their goals were much more then assists. Stamkos had almost 60 goals and 35 assists or something like that.

Last season, stamkos actually had 60 goals and 37 assists so that would not really be that far off but Crosby should always have more assists than goals.

That will come over time I'm sure.

I have noticed that overall scoring does seem to be low. In the few seasons i have played i have only seen a player top 95 points once and a few times the Art Ross went to a guy with below a ppg. On a side note I did a historical sim of 79-80 and Gretzky got 58 points in a full season lol.
