Quick starts
Can you save a game as quick start when the date is say, 2015 and then start it as a quick start in 2012?

No, I don't think so. You cannot "turn back the clock" in this game. What you propose would work with a template, however, but there are some things that you lose with a template versus a quick start.

Quick starts commence on the date they're created on. So if you create the quick start with a game date of 1 Apr 2015, then when you use the quick start, that is the in game date it will commence on.
