Markus>>>please take note!!

Here is a prime example of what people are talking about as far as scouting goes. Notice the date is 6/01/13 in all cases.

Look at the overall and potential scouted rating in each screen

Why is potential 56 in the profile section, while the potential is 68 in the scouted? Same goes for the discrepancy in the overall scouted rating. Markus has many times said the reason for the difference is because the scouted ratings are a "snapshot" in time, while the profile ones are current. My point is the date is June 1, 2013 in both...so why are they still different? It's a point I've been trying to prove for a very long time.

I could be wrong here, but I think the OVR and POT in the first screenshot are current numbers for him, buy his performance. Meaning, they fluctuate from time to time. If you have AI evaluation checked, those should change as the player accumulates stats.

The scouted numbers on 6/1 is what he was scouted at that particular time.

Just a guess...

I do have it checked...I can uncheck it and see what happens, but I do like stats as part of the evaluation. I just feel this aspect of scouting as long been poorly implemented.

EDIT: Why would potentials change though?

Actually Miz...it's gotten me re-thinking the optimal AI evaluation settings. I just started trying 55/20/15/10.

EDIT: This setting is working extremely well IMO

Uncheck it and see if it changes those numbers in the first screenshot as it should, because with it checked it's based on AI evals, not exact ratings.

I notice potentials changing as they get more ML time. A guy might have an 80 potential when he's drafted and through the minors, but once he plays and your scout sees him, it changes like OVR does.

I still prefer 40/30/20/10, but I'm sure those you have work well too.

It does change them, and the overall and potential is more in line with the individual skill ratings, however the number remains different from the scouting page. Closer, but still different

I find with 40/30/20/10 that the AI is often willing to trade away a very good player who might be having a down year

Haven't seen that yet myself.. but I do that all the time. If I'm paying someone $18 mil a year and they are hitting 0.223, it's time to go.

I think trading has grown leaps and bounds, I really mean that. I'm in 2026 and still have not won a World Series. I have never been in a funk like this before. In fact, I've only been to 1 WS.

I don't try to fleece the CPU, but I do make trades when I need to.

So do you have a take on the above scouting discrepancies?

Markus is probably the one who could give a definitive answer on that.
