Spring Training - Position Battles

Just an idea to possibly add a 'position battle' screen during ST to the team home page or somewhere. Sort of like Madden in the pre-season that gives you the positions that are up for grabs and who is battling for that spot with a statistical breakdown of their results during spring training.

You can already accomplish this through the filters on roster pages.

Yes you can. I guess what I was getting at was adding it as a section to the team home page during ST which would compile everything together automatically without having to go to the roster pages and click numerous things to bring it up. Just an 'eye candy' request and maybe some team news updates to go a long with it as an official position battle.

I like the idea. As it stands now there isn't much to get you involved with Spring Training overall. Having a position battles report would help with the immersion factor.

Its easy enough to look at each teams roster and see who they have on the roster for each position. But to add a report that lists players who might actually have a chance to take over for a regular would be great.

I just review what each player is doing and compare them with others. No need for a list.

That would be good but only if it took into consideration each players option status. It would be misleading to think that Youngblood Prospect is going to win the 2B job over entrenched Derek Big-Contract in a single ST when the starter has no options left and the prospect can be sent down. This happens every spring on every team every year.

It's much more likely that the actual battle would be for a bench spot and that Joe Veteran is in more danger of being waived or traded.

Yeah I guess I would just like to see a little more emphasis on position battles during spring training to add a little immersion. Maybe some story lines to go with it. It wouldn't really be a 'list' because teams in real life don't usually have that many starting positions up for grabs on the active roster, well maybe more pitching spots then position players. But when they do, it is usually something that is focused on publicly.

So a version of the "who's hot" list might work in ST. I'd like to see a list that indicates option years along with ST stats by position.
