Any Word About OOTP14 Features?

Has there been any word on OOTP14 and its new features?

I would think that the release date again this year will be around April.

It would be nice to know what's new about the new version.

I believe OOTP13 was officially announced on 1/20/2012, exactly 1 year ago today, so hopefully we will start hearing some news about OOTP14 soon.

No. There will inevitably be an announcement as always, but I don't think anything is ever announced until the big new features are already largely complete. After all, you don't want to advertise something unless you're sure it will be included and will function.

If there is one thing that needs updating now, IMO, it is the in-game presentation/screens.

It is high time that the display of game action be improved.

If the game does go to some 2D field it would be cool if our custom designed unies would show up and not just the colors.

I would prefer getting rid of the "in game" aspect of the game, and instead focus on the real-time portion. As it stands, there is a league scoreboard which provides live updates. What if we could stay within real-time mode (and be able to browse around at will) but have the ability to "expand" any of the scoreboards, which in turn would give you a sort of "game center"? The game center could provide not just a plethora of information, but also the outline of each individual ballpark as specified by dimensions, and can have some animation. It could end up looking something like this:

I agree as there is enough stat stuff already I don't even use. We've been cryin for animations for 10 years now and I'm putting my foot down. I refuse to buy another copy of this great game unless there's some animations at least to the scale of MicroLeague Baseball. Although "The SHOW" graphics with this stat based engine would be the most awesome baseball game ever made.

Although as a "compromise" because even Obama "compromises" I would like to see/hear play by play like APBA baseball used to have with Al Michaels. That was AWESOME but the graphics and game weren't that great.

I might volunteer for this, believe it or not. In anticipation of the possibility, I am going on a diet, effective immediately.

I have to imagine we'll be hearing something pretty soon. Markus said pre-orders start in late January.

Please get Gary Keith and Ron to do PBP for this game, since I already hear all PBP I see in their voice(s) >.>

Yes, some people have been crying for graphics for 10 years. Others like myself are crying for more "stat stuff."

While I agree that optional (I stress OPTIONAL) in-game graphics would be a huge improvement to the presentation and marketability of the game, I personally don't care. The reason being, the AI and many other functions of the game are still very flawed. What drew me to OOTP in the first place was that it didn't waste time on graphics and instead focused on the "stat stuff." THAT'S what OOTP is about - managing the team, not playing the game. It is a text-based sim, and a very very good one, and I fear that if Markus and company spend too much time focusing on graphics (which don't improve the playability of the game), the important areas, such as AI, will suffer.

I am all for graphics at a later date. But please, let's get the "stat stuff" right before we go there.

I'm hoping for more stats. And a few fixes.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.
