Problem with schedule

Hi guys,

I created a Fictional league with the standard 30 teams, 2 subleagues, 3 divisions per subleague format (5 teams in each division). I have the schedule set at 162 games per season, and no interleague play. I started the league in the year 2002 so I could sim 10 years to get some league history, but after the first year, I figured out that the teams were only playing 150 games, and with multiple 3-4 stretches of off days several times throughout the season. I then generated a new schedule for the second season to fix the problem, and then without checking to see if it was fixed, simmed another year with the teams only playing 150 games. So here I am in the 3rd season's preseason trying to fix the schedule to be 162 games without those stretches of off days in the middle of the schedule, but can't seem to fix either. Any ideas of how to fix this would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You created a setup with an odd number of teams in a league (15) but did not have interleague play, which means at any given time 1 club will be idle for a few days while the other 14 play. If you're going to have an odd number of teams in each subleague then you MUST have interleague play or clubs will have periods where they are off for a few days while the rest of the teams in their subleague are playing.

To resolve the issue, you can either realign your league so that there's an even number of teams in each subleague, in which case you won't need interleague play, or you can have interleague play and maintain the 15-15 subleague setup. I do believe there's an OOTP schedule file available for the 2013 MLB season, which has the 15-15 setup with interleague play, so you could import that schedule file for use in your league.

Wow, not sure why I didn't realize that in the first place, it's common sense. Thanks for the help.

No problem.

I neglected to mention that you could, of course, keep uneven subleagues without interleague play provided you don't mind clubs getting stretches of off days during the season. There have been a few cases in the minors where a regular minor league has operated with an odd number of teams during the season (the last time was the Appalachian League in 2007, when it operated with 9 teams).

I don't mind having interleague play, I just wasn't sure how the game created interleague schedules as I didn't want teams to play teams from the other subleague too often, but the MLB schedule will fine for me. Thanks again for the help.
