Spritze hs 1893 to present
THE SPRITZE DATABASE
I tried out the spritze high school database, and just loved it- the one that included the negro league and asian players, for a full on baseball experience. So i have decided to do a 1893 replay onwards with a few tuned additions First I made the original 16 more of their natural names from the start, so the Yankees, Cubs, and Dodgers appear. Since the spritze db has so many more players available, I added 4 teams to begin with 20- those 4 are honouring the early days of baseball and the negro leagues. When the draft happened I made the team that drafted Honus Wagner become the Pirates, Cy Young the red sox...and so on. Teams will still be added as per normal expansion years. So by the end of the 1960's, 8 more teams will be in the league, to now make 28 ect. The 4 extra teams from 1893 will become the teams that move to the West Coast, thus the Dodgers and Giants remain in New York. The draft will be conducted each year, but it is nice to have ty cobb with the Tigers or Ted Williams with the Red Sox, so with superstar players as long as their team is within 4 of where they would be drafted- they can move up to take the player without penalty (assumed greater scouting). If say the Red Sox were drafting 18, they could not take Williams. He would go to another team, and as Boston I will have to make a fair trade for him, including giving up a future draft pick. I have added in a few of my favourite fictional players to the 1893 game, to help reduce the possible big hitting numbers that can come up, hence even out the stats Seasons will be 162 games from the start. 5 man pitching rotations. So games will look with rosters like modern day Only a few players have been given history. Just two pitchers Cy Young, and Kid Nicholls, to avoid the huge amount of players with 50 start 500 inning pitched seasons. The fictional players have been given history, and some batters- Cap Anson, Sam Thompson ect. The rest all start history-less. Era stats will be for the season in question. Spritze adds so many interesting minor leaguers and the like, that there stil comes out to be 30-40 homer guys in the deadball era. Scouting is off. Injuries are on very low (as players are not given actual injury ratings, it was better not to hurt a player who was very healthy. This will also make for longer careers and bigger numbers) Finances are on, but will stay as a reserve clause league right through. Player development is off. BUT sometimes a player in the db does not have a final season where he slumps, thus can stay super good for another 5-10 years. So every few years i will look for older players in such a situation and manually weaken them to lessen their playing time and speed up their retirement. If the player really played to that age- a musial or rose...good on em... Ballparks are modern parks (tiger stadium, busch stadium ect), normalized 1.000. capacity around 12,000, will grow as the game grows into the 20's and 30's No minor leagues Only 3 real managers have begun the game, the other 17 are fictional. Great historical managers, Miller Huggins, John McGraw, Earl Weaver ect will be brought in for the proper year of thier baseball introduction. Not all historical managers will be brought in, just those that are famous. The game enegine will generate the rest out of luck...will Eddie Ciccote be turned into a GM when his career ends? I will post 12-14 years at a time. I will post a screenshot of the standings board after teh world series has ended, thus leaders can be seen for each league as well. Hall of famers will get a screenshot of their overall stats. Last edited by sprague; 01-11-2013 at 11:15 AM. |

1893-1906 DEVELOPMENT
The opening of the baseball wars began in 1893 and saw the leagues dominated by a few dynasties. Two in New York (the Giants and the Yankees), later with min-dynasties by the Phillies, Pirates and Indians. The Yankees and Giants have the most wins respectively, while the St, Louis Cardinals and Yankees have the most playoff appearances. A year by year standings-leader board follows Last edited by sprague; 01-11-2013 at 11:34 AM. |

HALL of Fame
The first hall of fame inductee was Cap Anson. Though most of his career was listed prior to 1893, his plus 3000 hits made in the first choice to the hall

The first great star of this league was Sam Thompson. He holds the record with 193 RBI in a season, as well has the longest hitting streak at 49 games. Playing in 3 all star games, winning 3 MVP awards and 3 batting championships.
