Player Development Model in First Version
Hi all, long time player of OOTP that is a hockey fan first and foremost. You can imagine my excitement when I heard of FHM.
My question deals with how the game will handle developing players and what type of options I will have as a GM. I have seen in a couple of places talk of not actually having minor league affiliations and instead just having a "reserve list". This seems strange since the AHL and ECHL are playable (if you were doing an "NHL" universe) but also since OOTP is so flexible in being able to adjust minor league team affiliations. So after a player draft, what options do I have? Can I send them back to juniors? Can I send them back the their NCAA team (even though I do not see any mention of NCAA yet)? Can I loan them back to their European tema? Can I put them on to my minor league team in the ECHL or AHL? If those options are not available, and there really is just a reserve list, then how would the game handle player development if they are not actually playing on a team and are just sitting on a list somewhere? To me, this is a VERY big part of any hockey sim. To leave it out would be leaving out a large part of the GM experience. |

the reserve list is just for historical mode.
Since the juniors are in i have no doubt that you can send them back their if you sign them and they are eligible. I bet that the NCAA is included as a non playable league. You cannot send players back to the NCAA in real life, if you sign them they can be sent to the minors or junior (if a team owns their rights) - i see it being the same here. Otherwise you'd just leave them in the NCAA until you have to sign them similar to EHM.

Ah, reserve list is just for historical. That makes me really happy to hear, thanks for the clarification!

As dave said: reserve list is only part of the historical mode. If you start a normal 2012/13 game you have all the options you listed in your post.

Can you import teams from one year to another? Could the 1965-66 Boston Bruins be imported to the 2012-13 season. Would they be able to have a farm team or only a reserve list?

I know you guys want everything (+ a bit more) in version one but we have limited resources to work with. Please always consider in which version OOTP (or EHM) added something to the game and realize: it is just not possible to have everything from the start. Beside that, FHM is not a historical simulation (or fictional game) alone. Take a look at FM or EHM or any other successful textsim game and you will see the priority. We at OOTP Developments believe that a great textsim game should give the user as much options as possible. Thats why we add a historical mode, fictional options and anything else that makes OOTP great but it takes a lot of time to have everything right, the franchise will grow over time, the same as OOTP did (and in smaller parts iOOTP too).

Is it possible to run in "historical" mode with a random player development model, complete with minor leagues, etc?
What I am looking for is the ability to start in the early 90's, and run with your player development model (no re-doing talents every year), real draft classes (talents based initially on their NHL career, but fluctuate as OOTP does), and complete minor leagues. Juniors would probably not be necessary until the game got to the "future", because the draft classes are coming from "history". Possible? |

I have a really simple quesiton on my side. Will it be possible to start in the Canadian Hockey League (WHL, OHL and QHJML) and move torwards to the NHL by gaining popularity?
Thanks! |

Does the game have settings to tweak the aging speed and development speed? Based on position too?
And can we tweak the "AI Player Evaluation Option" like ootp where we put in percentages for Ratings Weight, Current Year Stats Weights, Previous Year Stats, 2 year stats weight? They are two option i'm really hoping are included as i really enjoy changing them in ootp.
