Developing Prospects

Is there a good guide out there to how to develop prospects properly, so they reach full potential, aka dont mess them up. Any general guide to prospect development would be great. Also any guide to improving potential would be awesome.

I have been playing OOTP for many years. One of the things I really like about OOTP is that I have never been able to predict or guarantee player development. As in real life, it seems to be a gamble no matter what.

I think this is one area where there are many opinions and theories. But it is very difficult to measure and analyze player development. It would take a lot of effort to really figure out what is going on behind the scenes. This is great in my opinion, because we aren't able to look behind the scenes in real life either.

This is a great question. I'm answering from a new player perspective, but I try to develop prospects in a 'realistic' way and some of what's in the manual has worked out in my games - for example, young players have burned out from being brought up too quickly. I still ask myself if I'm just seeing statistical variance or a real piece of game code in action.
For those of you with more experience, have you found situations like this to be a result of the software? How about the opposite end: keeping a good prospect down to long and missing his 'window of opportunity'. I believe I've experienced that as well but again wonder if I'm just seeing the unpredictability of player development.
