Trading Block

When I add a player to the trade block, is there a way to "tell" other teams what I'm looking for in return? For example, if I add Carlos Lee to the block, is there a way for me to let other teams know I'm looking for prospects, etc..

Trading Block doesn't work they way it should in Solo play. Putting a player of yours on there will not get any AI teams to offer you a trade for a player. It works good in online play and if there is an AI player you might want.
If you want to try to trade someone away shop him or find player you want and using the Trade page and see if the other team wants him and maybe someone else.

You will receive offers in solo play, albeit not many.

Make sure you have your trade settings to "favour prospects" or "Heavily Favour Prospects".

Not sure what The Game means when he says it works well for online. In online leagues teams are all human controlled, so while using the trade block may work, you'll find most online leagues use their forum and the PM method or some other means of communicating such as AIM.

In solo league, I usually just browse through the teams looking for the type of player I want.

I use the "Trade Player(s)" screen.

I select some of the other teams, one at a time.
As soon as I select an opposing team on the right, it lists weaknesses that the other team has. If you are trying to trade away a position the other team has a weakness in, you might have a good fit.

Next I try to make sure the other team can afford my player. I do that buy dragging my player up to the "Offered Players" box to trade him away. Then I suggest that the other team trade a non-salary player to us. If the resulting box in the middle says they can't afford the player, you know you might have to take back a player with the some salary.

I know this isn't what you were asking for, but it's an option if you get bored of waiting for offers that never come.
