I Have To Share My Agony With My Fellow OOTPers
I'm in my 27th season now and still have not had a Triple Crown winner ineither league yet. . .this is especially pertinent with Miguel Cabrera accomplishing the feat yesterday.
I have a first baseman, Ken Lewis, who is an absolute stud in his prime. He was having an incredible season and was well in line to win the Triple Crown and have one of the greatest seasons of all time when shortly after the all star break he just went down with a hip injury and will miss the rest of the season. . . Check out the screen shot to see his stats only 104 games into the season. Also was leading the league in doubles and slugging. . . Arggghhhh. . .the agony! |

I get it. There was a stud ace in my solo league last year who was inline to break just about every league record for pitching. it was the season for the ages. Then he blew out his elbow in mid-June and missed all but the last 2 games of the season and he lost both of them. As much as I hate things like this, you have to love that OOTP is always there to throw a curveball at you.

Rarest of the rare. I have played dozens of seasons across multiple leagues and had only one triple crown, Jordan Pacheco in 2020 for the Rays, from a real roster MLB league that started in the 2010 season.
I have also had only two four-homer games in all those seasons, one from Brett Wallace and one from a fictional quad-A type minor league slugger, which I guess could also be a description of Brett Wallace. |

I still have not had that "Mike Piazza" player who shows up in the very last rounds of the draft to become an absolute superstar

The man was basically built to win the Triple Crown. In his prime he had 92 contact, 85 power, 95 avoid K's, and an eye of only 38, which helped him get more at bats each year. In 2019 he hit .367, 50 HRs, and 158 RBIs to win the Major League Triple Crown. Similarly to the Cabrera situation, he was 3rd in WAR that year. But there's no way I could not give him the MVP after that season. |

I see the Marlins still suck in 2038. Oh well.

Great stuff all. . .and I agree - It's what makes the game as incredible as it is.
As an aside, I did have a player at my AAA Syracuse affiliate break the International League HR record this same year with 65. . . |
