Harrison Ford, Baseball Manager (An Expansion Story)

It's November of 2014, and the Washington Nationals have just defeated the Cleveland Indians in the World Series behind Stephen Strasburg, Brandon McCarthy, Steve Lombardozzi, and Ryan Zimmerman. On the heels of this exciting 7 game series, Bud Selig announced he would be retiring as Commissioner of Major League Baseball following the 2015 season. During the same speech, he shocked the baseball world by announcing MLB's intent to expand to a 32 team format for the 2015 season.

It was revealed the owners and players union had been secretly planning this expansion for years as part of an overhaul of Major League Baseball. Selig desired a return to "pure" baseball and wished to remove the designated hitters position from the American League. As part of a compromise solution, the players union agreed to his change in exchange for the new teams.

The 2015 Expansion teams were revealed to be the Carolina Palmettos based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the Las Vegas Lobos. As part of the expansion, the MLB would undergo a full "NFL style" alignment*. The alignment would see Colorado and Tampa Bay switch leagues. The new divisions are as follows:

National League:

Southern Division:
- Miami Marlins
- Carolina Palmettos
- Tampa Bay Rays
- Atlanta Braves

Eastern Division:
- Washington Nationals
- Pittsburgh Pirates
- New York Mets
- Philadelphia Phillies

Central Division:
- St. Louis Cardinals
- Milwaulkee Brewers
- Chicago Cubs
- Cincinnati Reds

Western Division:
- Los Angeles Dodgers
- Arizona Diamondbacks
- San Francisco Giants
- San Diego Padres

American League:

Eastern Division:
- Baltimore Orioles
- New York Yankees
- Toronto Blue Jays
- Boston Red Sox

Northern Division:
- Chicago White Sox
- Detroit Tigers
- Minnesota Twins
- Cleveland Indians

Central Division:
- Colorado Rockies
- Kansas City Royals
- Houston Astros
- Texas Rangers

Western Division:
- Oakland Athletics
- Los Angeles Angels
- Seattle Mariners
- Las Vegas Lobos

Authors Notes:

It will probably take me a few posts to get through all the procedural stuff, but the title will make sense soon enough. This story will obviously take a bit of a suspension of disbelief, but I'm aiming for it to be light-hearted. I'm relatively new to the game and pretty terrible to boot, so expect plenty of mistakes along the way. There are tons of great stories on this site and I wish I had the time to read them all.
