Using a SP as a RP..advice needed

I have a SP who is promising prospect but have no room in the starting rotation for him. I really don't want to keep him in the minors and I need some bullpen help. So I put him in the bullpen, but with one problem. He needs at least four days of rest after throwing only 25 or so pitches. He has a stamina of 17 out of 20. I have RP with twice as less stamina that only need 2 days of rest to be back in the green to pitch after a workload like that. What can a I do? If I switch him to be labeled as a RP, will that affect him as far as stamina and maybe needing him to start some later ? I really don't want to lose him, so any advice would be much appreciated.

Yes, what you said is right.

When you keep his position as SP, it says "tired" as in "he can't start today/tomorrow", and it only says "rested" when he is ready to start. It's not his rating, just the fatigue indicator.

Put him as a RP, and problem solved.

Using young SP out of the BP in OOTP is analogous to RL. I do it often.

If you change him to a RP he will need less rest between starts but won't be able to last long before he gets tired.

If he can't make the rotation then by all means change him to RP, i know the AI does this all the time, if you need him to start change him back.

As others have mentioned, setting his position to RP will make him work like an RP (possibly higher stuff, tire quicker but recover quicker) so unless you're also using him as a spot starter, go with that.

Thanks guys

So far so good..changed him to a RP and now I can use him on multiple days(this is what I was wanting). Unfortunatly the results are not what I hoped they would be. Guess I'll give him another few weeks to be sure though.

This has got me to wondering what is the setting difference between a CL & RP?

I have some CL that I think should be RP, but I don't want to hurt thier progress.

Is it okay to leave them in the closer role, while not using them to close out games? I have a pitcher whose role is just middle relief, but I use as a closer with decent results, so that makes me a little curious as to what to do here.

Shane Husak did not really make the team out of spring training but he was out of options and I felt he was too valuable to let go for almost nothing. He started in the bullpen, became closer for a few weeks when no one seemed able to do the job and went into the rotation when injuries hit.

A very valuable piece of my team this year.

That guy looks awesome. He looks like a solid fielder too. Can he hit?
