Cap,this was posted on 8-28 in the TBCB beta forum......

Hi Guys,

I thought I should give you all an update on my workload. I am still fighting with windows 8/Metro. It is proving to be more difficult than I thought as Microsoft have removed big sections of the API and its Murphys law they are the ones I knew/used!

Over the last few weeks I was called up for Jury Service which stopped almost all development. However I did take my laptop with me and fixed a few TBCB 2012 bugs while waiting to go into court. So there has been a little bit of progress on TB.

If you look at the task list above you will see the options dialog now works. I have the Corner Instructions dialog displaying information, I just need to submit any changes back into the fight engine.

At this pace we could still be years away from TBCB 3.0,if it ever happens at all.

What? No near-fatal car crash or case of the plague? Really dodged a bullet there. Guess I'll finally have to leave the rec room and venture outside into the sunlight......AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGH ! My eyes! My eyes!

Welcome to the 21st century.

1984 is just taking a little longer to arrive than originally scheduled.

After suffering through Vista, I am a bit skittish over upgrading to new MS operating systems but I have to say that Windows 7 has been very good to me.

my 2p: Windows 8 dev currently sucks, I really hope this nightmare will soon be over so I can enjoy working on TB again! It is by far the hardest platform port I have done in modern times!

Most evenings I sit at home with a headache... Metro/WinRT is a BIG step backwards for developers!

It was an inevitable step in the evolution of machine-man interface. One day your device will speak to you and treat you as though you were a small child.

Suri sucks! It's more like the Jack-in-the-box commercial than real help.

It seems that Windows 8 is becoming the next Vista. Do I detect a pattern here? Is it that every other version of Windows is a lemon?

I dont think its that bad. At first i didnt like it but mosy cause stuff was moved around.
I kinda like the start screen. No hunting for shortcuts on my desktop. The task manager is more informative. I cant speak for development cause im not a programmer. I say give it some time. I dont think its another Vista. I plan on getting a new laptop when it is released and co.vert my current one to Linux. You may be right but i will reserve judgement until it is released.

I've heard you can restore your Windows 7 OS if you can't work with Windows 8. We need you back at work in the TB lab as soon as possible!
