So many questions

Just started OOTP13. Looks cool. Started a quickstart game as the Toronto Blue Jays. Won game #1. Went to play game #2 and a screen comes up saying Lansing Lugnuts has illegal players (0). I went down to minors and 2 players on DL with 5 days left. Only two players on the team. What do I do now? I've read manuel until my eyes bleed can't find anything. Can't play without fixing this

It depends on what you're looking to do

For now if you're just trying to get familiar with the sim etc, you need to enable ghost players in the minors since you have incomplete rosters.

Or you can fill them with fictional players.

So your 2 options are:

Click on your league at the top then hit League Setup > then Options
Check off the box that says Allow incomplete Minor league rosters

OR

Click on your league at the top then hit League Setup > then Functions

Select your minor leagues at the top right and then choose Fill with Fictional players

Building off of this, how important is managing minor league teams and rosters? For example a couple teams I have will have something like 3 1B, 0 2B, 1 SS, and 2 3B, or something like that. How big an issue is an unbalanced roster like that? Same with having 18 total pitchers on a roster.

Again - it totally depends how new you are and how deep into this game you want to get.

If you're totally new to OOTP, my best advice for now is to fill those minor leagues with fictionals and have coaches that help you fill out the lineups etc.

This way you can see how players progress in the minors etc

Thanks. I changed it to fictional players in minors. Also had AI manage every team. Everything is working great. Lots of trades and a draft that I had nothing to do with LOL.
My plan is to have 5 or 6 of my buddies and I run some teams ASAP.

You def. wanna just get your feet wet and don't try to do so much so quickly.

Every offseason you can add certain features or make edits. I suggest doing that, IE add scouts, add coaches, add rule 5 etc.

Just figure out the basics first - then continue to add.
