Minor League Contracts

I have a fictional league set-up with no minor leagues. However quite a few teams have a number of players on their roster with minor league contracts. Now I understand that teams can have players with minor league contracts on their secondary roster, but some of these players have major league playing time. One team only has 11 salaried players on their 25-man active roster. This seems like a bit of an unfair advantage. Aren't players suppose to automatically get a contract when they get on the active roster? Or did I miss some option somewhere?

Are you in the off season, ST or the regular season?

It's the off-season.

That explains it once the regular season starts the players on the big league and minor leavue roster will make league minimum.

But some of these players have major league playing time already. They wouldn't revert back to a minor league contract would they?

Yes they will, if they are optioned down to the minors they receive a minor league contract in OOTP. It is a functional compromise from what MLB actually does. I think they need to be demoted before free agents file after the WS. If they are then promoted during the offseason or ST the game will not show a salary. The players on the 25 man roster on opening day will receive an ML contract.
